I would like to know if it is possible to setup an EVDO router at one location with a computer and whatever else is needed, then pack up said EVDO router and a web-enabled IP device, such as an IP camera, send it off somewhere, have them hook up the router/camera and it work without using a PC.
basically need to know if a PC is needed to establish internet access, or if it can be powered off, plugged in and automatically connect like a traditional cable connection. |

we do what you are describing, every day!
many of our customers order evdo device on contract along with a router. we preactivate the evdo device and update/test router before shipping. no extra charge for those services.
once it gets to its destination, no pc is needed for it to work.
however, many folks will want to set up security options using their connected pc, before a true "deployment".
we can set you up with sprint evdo or verizon evdo, and a cradlepoint router and we promise better customer/tech support than you'll find anywhere else! |

the environment will be PC-Free, no internet browsing or anything like that, just a web cam or a phone.
Ideally, id like to setup the router, the card and a ip-based webcam, get it all working the way i want, then pack it up, give someone some basic instructions, ie plug it in, point the camera and go, simplicity being the key here. |

Tommy793,
Just an FYI- If you are sending the setup off to someone without a computer it might not be a bad idea to setup remote management on the router so that you can access it from your location. Just a thought. |
