I recently bought an antenna for the USB720 modem. I hooked it up and installed the antenna on top of the roof. It got great signal and I could connect to BroadBand Rev-A. Yesterday around 6:40pm It lost all bars while I was online. So I disconnected and attempted to reconnect to the broadband but I could not. 0 bars it had and still 0 bars now. Anyone have a solution to this problem or has the answer about what happened would be appriciated. and When I use to connect to broadband Rev-A I had 3 bars. Thanks.

Hard to tell what your problem is, but try first unplugging your supplementary antenna. If that doesn't work, go to plan 2.
Plan#2, remove your card from the computer for a couple of minutes, then re-insert the card. Sometimes all it needs to do is reset itself.
Plan#3 When all else fails, call Verizon tech service. It might be there is a problem with their tower. They also have a very extensive and in depth map of the U.S. even showing ground contours and distances from your location to their towers. You give them your address and they can even tell you what your surrounding terrain is like. I have found their tech support to be first class.
Hopefully I have helped you with your problem.

I just recently had a unique situation where I installed an antenna to catch the 1900 spectrum. Used it for a few months and then went away one day. I found out later that Verizon had changed their EVDO service to the 850mhz spectrum. So, I ended up changing the dipole on the antenna and I'm back in business. Thanks to n6gn. Not saying this is your problem.

Alright. I can get it to connect now but it takes a couple of tries. The signal keeps on going in from 3 - 0 bars in a couple of seconds. Than after awhile that signal turns red and I can connect really fast and works great. But if the internet is not in use it does not work. It goes dormant but it is still connected. So I have to have a constant internet download/upload or something going or I can't get on. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I called verizon and they said they would check it out and call me back a in a few days. That was a week ago and they still have not phoned back.

I see that 3gstore sells the wilson 1900 MHz dipole for Sprint, and the much mor eexpensive dual band log-periodic (800-1900 MHz) antenna for Verizon.

Is the more expensive antenna not needed, and a cheaper 900 MHz Yagi working for everyone for Verizon (which unfortunately 3gstore does not sell)?

I have had a problem with getting sometimes even 2 bars at this particular location. I called and complained to Verizon and they said they would send someone out to this address and check it out. It took a couple of weeks and yes the original tech I talked to called me and explained what the problem was.
He said on a line from their closest tower to my location something is bending the signal. I said that on that line about 500 ft from my home is the Operations Center for a major airline and about 3000 ft away is a defense building for a major military contractor. Both these companies have a significant number of satellite dishes all of which could easily affect the cell signal. The bottom line is they will look into building another tower in this area. When? Who knows.
And here is a dirty little secret. If a person cannot consistently get 3 or 4 bars at their primary location that is grounds for early termination of your contract. They won't tell you that but I was told by a Verizon employee. I hope you kept the name of the tech you complained to and the date of your complaint and if you don't hear from someone within 2 weeks call back and file a formal complaint. The bottom line is to keep on their butts until you are happy, and let them know although you do not want to, you may have to cancel your Verizon agreement if they cannot alleviate the problem.
Good luck.
