Motorola Adventure V750 EVDO Rev-A Handset Works Hard So Verizon Wireless Customers Can Play Hard

With High-Performance Features and Military-Grade Construction, This Exclusive Push to Talk Phone is the Rugged Solution for Active Customers

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., and LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., July 21 -- Verizon Wireless and Motorola, Inc. announced that the Motorola Adventure(TM) V750, a rugged Push to Talk phone designed for the most extreme conditions, will be available beginning today through business sales channels and online at www.verizonwireless.com. Ideal for the highly-mobile and active individual, the feature-rich V750 offers a durable and reliable solution for Verizon Wireless Push to Talk customers and leverages the high-speeds of the Verizon Wireless Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network. The Motorola Adventure V750 will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores beginning July 28.

The Motorola Adventure V750 meets military specifications for extreme conditions including shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, high-temperature storage, high and low temperature operation, and altitude. With Verizon Wireless' Push to Talk capabilities and a large 2.2-inch high-resolution internal display and 1.6-inch external display, customers can easily see which friends and colleagues are available and speak to them instantly. The phone's no-slip surface and speaker make the V750 tough and functional enough for a day on the job site, an afternoon hike or a night out at the club.

Verizon Wireless' Push to Talk service leverages EV-DO Rev. A technology, which provides customers with fast two-way communication with one person or a group of people. In addition to the simplicity of one number, national coast-to-coast coverage and no hidden charges or fees, Verizon Wireless' Push to Talk customers can expect:

-- Network Reliability -- with the enhanced Push to Talk service, customers get an instant connection feature combined with the best wireless coverage in the United States

-- Presence Information -- similar to instant messaging, Verizon Wireless' Push to Talk subscribers can see who is "on" and available to receive a Push to Talk call

-- Online enterprise contact management tool to easily manage a business' Push to Talk contacts from a Web-based interface

The rugged V750 also helps businesses keep productivity high, thanks to Verizon Wireless' location-based services, including VZ Navigator(SM) and Field Force Manager. With VZ Navigator, customers can get audible maps, turn-by-turn directions and location information to more than 14 million points of interest that customers can share with others. Field Force Manager gives Verizon Wireless customers a resource management tool that provides businesses with the ability to locate, monitor and communicate with their mobile field workers -- right on their mobile devices.

The Motorola Adventure V750 plays as hard as it works, offering customers access to entertainment services and more, including:

-- V CAST Music with Rhapsody -- Download music directly from the phone using the service to access a library of more than 5 million songs, purchase full-songs over-the-air, and download the master copy of the songs to their PCs free of digital rights management software that restricts how and where music can be played. Customers can also sync favorite tracks, albums and playlists from a PC (requires a separately purchased data cable).

-- Dedicated external music keys for easy access to music

-- Stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology (handset supports Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP profiles)

-- Mobile IM and chat capabilities

-- Mobile Web -- customizable, enhanced wireless access to the latest in news, sports, weather and more

-- Media Center -- download games, ringtones, wallpapers and more

-- V CAST Video -- customers can stay entertained with the hottest clips, including sports highlights, breaking news, weather and more

-- 2.0 megapixel camera

-- 2.5 mm headset jack

-- Text, picture and video messaging capabilities

-- microSD(TM) card memory port with up to 8 GB support with optional memory card

The Motorola Adventure V750 is available for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement. Corporate discount pricing is available. Verizon Wireless customers can add Unlimited Push to Talk for $10 per month, per line to any Nationwide voice plan.

Will 3Gstore sell this phone? Can it be used as a tethered modem for a PC?

Will this phone perform 100% as well as the Verizon data cards? Just as fast and work in just as many places?

It seems like using this phone instead of a data card would allow you to turn the service on and off as needed, without locking into a data contract in addition to a voice phone contract.

When you turn a data plan on and off for a capable phone, can you turn it on by the day or do you have to turn it on or off for a full month?

How is the 5 Gig monthly limit applied if a data plan is turned off and on periodically?

I can't speak for this particular phone of course, but insofar as VZW tethering is concerned (BBAC) the tethering charge on a smartphone with a normal data plan ($40-45) is a $15 monthly surcharge with the first month free and is cancellable at any time thereafter with a pro-rata of .50/day for the fraction of the billing month not used. For this phone which is not a smart phone the tethering charge ( if it's possible to tethr) probably will be higher because VZW wants your total data+tethering charge to be $60 a month so it will be the difference between that and your data plan cost. And you can't use PDANet on this phone so that would be probably your only option if they choose to offer it.

I don't think they would like cancelling after a day or 2 of use over and over, but technically according to cancellation terms, it is possible.

Like most people, I personally don't like the extra surcharges for tethering, as 3rd party apps available for smartphones (PANet, USBModem, WiFiRouter, et al) are one time costs which in all likelihood are violations of VZW TOS so I don't use them much.

The 5 Gig limit is what it is so whether the tethering is on or off, as long as you don't exceed that limit in a monthly billing cycle you're cool.

A use-by-the-day option would be nice, but it would in all likelyhood cost a fortune. VZW used to have (maybe still do) daily options on their data cards but they were $15/day. Now if on a regular data plan they were $.50 a day up to the $15 for 30 days of usage as part of your data contract, that would be really great. That way you could just tether occasionally and pay only for what you use as you need it without worrying about turning the dang feature on and off. But since when did corportations think of anything "fair" like that....

Question Alex, I ordered one yesterday, July 21st, and Fedex delivered something from Verizon to my house today. I hope that it's the "V750", but now I guess that I won't know until I get home from work!!

I had not intended to, but I can! Very Happy Give me a day or two, and I'll get back to you. I'm a little tight for time right now, but it should get better tomorrow.

How long until Verizon phones are available to Alltel users? I tether on Alltel and have been waiting for a rA phone (other than the HTC models, I don't like the way Windows Mobile handles tethering). Smile

Very Happy It was, indeed, the V750!!! I didn't have time to play with it last night; so the battery is charging now. Hope to have a few minutes for it tonight. My data cord did not make the shipment, maybe it'll get there today.

Quick first impressions are:
1. A slightly thicker Razor with more asthetic accents.
2. I don't like the thin battery cover, but that's probably my overengineering self.
3. Better camera than my Treo.
4. I like the keypad.

Sad I had to order the data cable from Motorola, seems that V doesn't sell them any more outside of the "Mobile Office Kit", and they don't have a kit for the V750 yet. BTW a data cable doesn't come with the phone as it has in the past. I don't know what I'll be using for software if the #777 dial up connection doesn't work. I may have to order Motorola's software to get it tethered.

Does anyone know if there is an external antenna port on the V750? I don't see any adapter available yet on any of the usual websites, so I'm hoping someone here might know.

Thanks,

Michelle

Sad Michelle, the only external ports on the V750 are the headphone jack and the micro-usb jack.

Thanks, Gary. Guess we'll keep plugging along with our e815 phones for a little while longer.
