Hi,

Sierra 580
No Booster Ant
17" PB G4
10.4.2
Canberra , AUSTRALIA

Well, I must be the only idiot on this planet! I have tried to follow the instructions on the EVDOinfo website, but can't even get past the first line!

Here is what I do:

I go to the Applications/ Utilities folder and double click the Terminal application, it comes up as:

Terminal - bash- 80x24

Last login: Sun Oct 16 19:35:24 on ttyp1
Welcome to Darwin!
Xxxxxx-Xxxxxxxs-Computer:~xxxxxxxxxxxxx$

when i type in: cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/

and press ENTER, i get this message: No such file or directory.

Then it goes back to

Xxxxxx-Xxxxxxxs-Computer:~ xxxxxxxxxxxxx$

Thats it, that is as far as i get.

So, if anyone has any ideas as to what i am stuffing up, please feel free to let me know. I would love to get this card running on my powerbook!

Thanks heaps people! Slim_Shady!

Hello,

For those not familiar with the Terminal Application (majority of Mac users), we have a step by step, keystroke by keystroke directions for getting the AirCard 580 working with PowerBooks.

The only thing that MAY be different, is that I do not know what the username / password would be, or how it would be different between these directions (which is for Sprint) and for Telstra Australia. I know what they are for Verizon and Sprint. So, Google around OR ask what the User Name & Password would be to be authenticated on the Telstra EVDO network. ONCE you have that, then the following directions can be used AND just enter the username/password that is required:

Sierra AirCard 580 Mac PDF Setup Directions (Sprint AC580)

Michael,

Thanks very much for the info and link.

I will get on it as soon as i can and pay the $49 for the file.

Kind regards

Slim_Shady

PS: I am crossing my fingers that this will work this time! My card has been activated on a friends PC. How often would i need to re activate it? In order to update its PRL's - I think they're called??? Ta.

Contact me privately, I may have a solution for you.

I will provide the AirCard 580 Sprint PDF directions for free. If you can figure out the Username & password to authentication the connection (it may be blank like Sprint), and test this, I can then promote that this file works with Telstra Australia's EVDO network, OR make a new PDF just for their network.
