I have the Compass 597 USB modem.

Just upgraded to 1.16.0007.0 Smartview.

I noticed the ability to choose the network type in the Mobile tab is gone (1xRTT vs EVDO) for me now. That was the only way I could get 1.13 to connect. I had to keep flipping it between Auto and EVDO untill it would pick up a Rev A connection in EVDO-only mode. So now I can't connect at all with 1.16. It just says Aquiring Data service with no signal.

Here is the interesting part, if I double click the CDMA connection in DUN (windows XP), it connects immediately. The blue connection light comes on and I can surf and stream music. The bandwidth testers only report 100-200kbps down though.

I am in central Houston, TX so I was expecting good Rev A speeds when I got this card.

I did a system restore to get rid of everything and start over. I installed the software off the USB drive, so now I'm running version 1.12.0015 and able to connect again by specifying EVDO Only. It looks like version 1.16 is what comes across on the updater now. I am sticking to 1.12 for the time being.

I am still stuck at 100-200 Kbps down on the bandwidth tests though. Even though it says EVDO Rev A on the display window. Its barely faster than when I would use bluetooth and my Moto Razr to get online, lol.
