The Future of Wireless Aircards

I use a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 with a Sprint EVDO aircard. I get pretty good speeds, but I am just wondering what the future holds for wireless aircards. Are we likely to see a "4G" anytime soon or is it more likely that the existing network will build out before any next generation is achieved?

Jim1348, what generation of CF-29 are you using? I'm trying to figure out if the aircard module connector is indeed proprietary for those CF-29 mk4 and below.

I'd like to put a Telus (Canada) EVDO Rev A miniPCIe card into my CF-29 but can't get a straight answer for Panasonic, since they don't support such a configuration.
