| I have a Kyocera KPC650 card that I previously used on the Alltel Network. I've now moved, and want to change to Verizon. Called Kyocera--- they told me that the card was identical except for programming, and to have Verizon reprogram it. Called Verizon wireless data technical support... they said the card can't be used on their network because the ESN won't be recognized. This sounds like BS--- they can just add the ESN like they do with a cellphone. Did I just get bad info from Verizon? Is there somewhere else in Verizon I should call to get a better answer? |

I believe VZW stopped accepting foreign ESNs into their system awhile back. So, the tech could be right in his statement. Just a suggestion here try selling your card on Ebay? _________________ EVDO Addict. |

I bought a KPC650 card from eBay but I already had an account with Verizon (with a PC5220 card). I did not even have to call Verizon to activate it. Once I established my account over the internet I simply logged onto my Verizon account and activated the KPC650 that way; easy as pie. Just enter your KPC650 ESN number in the space provided and click "Submit". I did not have to call Verizon AT ALL. If you still want an account with Verizon perhaps you can just do that and try to activate the KPC650 over the internet. If it works you can complain and see if they will take back the card they sold you, since you then have the working KPC650. If they refuse to admit they were wrong...I believe you have, what - 15 days to decide on whether or not to keep their contract, no? Do you get where I am going with this? If they are right and you cannot use the KPC650 then do as suggested on a previous post; sell it on eBay. One thing though; the KPC650 is a great card; if I were you, since you have 15 days to decide, I would not buy their stock card but order another KPC650; it's a great card but you may have to get Verizon to special order it. Hopefully you can establish an internet account before the 15 day limit is over; that's the only draw back I see to this idea.
I believe Verizon's ESN numbers have 11 characters. If your card has more or less then it probably won't be accepted IMHO....some thing to check into and consider.
You might also try to check with Alltell about the cards compatability with Verizon.
Hope that helps _________________ Sony T250 1.2 Ghz & 17" Powerbook 1.5 Ghz |

As a user of both the PC5220 and KPC650, what have you seen as the advantages of the KPC650? Others that have had both, what do you see a the differences?

The KPC seems to bring in an extra bar on the PC laptop and 2 bars on the Apple laptop. It seems quicker and more reliable but I have not made any formal tests. Even so to me it is evidently a better card. _________________ Sony T250 1.2 Ghz & 17" Powerbook 1.5 Ghz |
