I would just like a little help. I am relatively new to the EVDO game. I have been using for quite some time, but our success isn't that great. Here is my setup.
Antenna: * Dual Band Amplifier CA-819 w/Omni mag mount antenna
Modem: UM150 (Alltel)
Router: CradlePoint CR350
Tower Location: Aprox 1.5 Miles at a higher elevation that my house with thick woods between the tower and the house.
I am using the crappy velcro mount that the alltel store sold me. I do have a pig tail adapter that I purchased from the 3gstore, but I don't think it works. i plugged it into my last modem and it stopped working. Alltel gave me a new one under warranty, but I have been afraid to hook it up again.
Here is my deal. With my cell phone laying on the velcro (Blackberry 8830), I seem to get fair signal, no dropped calls. The USB modem doesn't work at all with the velcro deal. Cell works great on the road to my house, ok in the yard and so so in the house.
I would really like to know what direction I should move into. I have an old directway dish and have no option for dsl and need a connection as my wife works from the house. I don't really want the sat service and the EVDO coverage seems to work good when I get signal strength.
Thanks for reading my rambling and hopefully someone can help me out a little bit. |

Try a bi quad, I am 3.3 miles from my nearest tower.
I built a bi quad based on trevor Marshals diagram, read last chapter first is it is for the 1900 mhz frequency.
I mounted the bi-quad on my old hughes net sattelite dish, my signal strength went from 40% to 80% sometimes fluctuating to 100%
easy to build antenna, and works great with the parabolic dish. |

I will get working on those questions. I will tell you the best RSSI values I can get inside the house without the antenna is -96. The antenna gives no real dif. I typically see 96 to 101 |
