|
|
Sorry if this has been posted before - search did not show.
Using Verizon Kyocera KPC 650 Card with Kyocera KR1 router.
Got letter dated 6/16 from Verizon saying I must upgrade device software by July 31,2008 to continue Broadband Access.
The Verizon website says in How to Check Firmware Version to locate VZAccess Manager and compare Firmware Version with one listed above (CG1.0.06.
I don't think I have VZAccess manager as I am using card in the KR1 router.
Do I need to do anything to conitnue using service?
Please help this newbie.
Thanks,
Joe |

My desktop that I am using with the KR1 does not the slot but I have an older laptop with Windows XP and a slot for the card. That laptop does have the VZAccess program.
Should I use that laptop for the check on firmware version and, if necessary, the update?
What's confusing me is this:
Is the update applied to the VZAccess program or to the 650 card? If to the VZAccess program, how will that help me to continue to use the 650 card with the KR1 plugged into the desktop. If the update is apllied to the 650 card, I understand.
Thanks for continuing to assist me in this issue. I am sure others got the notice from Verizon and have the same problem and uqestions.

Interesting, I have a 620 and I was told by VZ to upgrade the firmware. That was last SEP and I have not. I figured if the card is working then there is no reason to do this. Then when I am ready I will upgrade a EVDO-REV A card. That will be soon ....
Hey if the darn thing "needs" it , you can then update it? |

The update is applied to the firmware on the KPC650.
Others have reported not needing to do this update and 'things still work fine' after the date that Verizon gives you. If you want to play it safe, you should probably:
- download the firmware upgrade
- follow directions and insert the KPC650 directly into your computer when instructed.
- when done, your KPC650's firmware is updated and you can re-insert into your KR1.
If you are in the Chicago area (Cary, IL) and want to stop by (appointment needed), we can do the update for you (no charge). Or, if you want to pay for shipping both ways, we can offer to upgrade the KPC650 for you. However, if you have a PC, it is very easy, just download the update, insert the KP650 and click the update button and the firmware upgrades automatically. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
