| I doubt most retail store have a clue what rev. a even is. It is all cell phones to them. I knew more when I went to check if evdo would work in my area than the store people did about evdo |

*I wonder if it's really all of Kansas or just the Wichita area as noted in the press release Alex posted. |
It may be Wichita, since in NE Kansas, the software reports that I have a RevA signal already... |

| Have just signed up with Alltel--still in the 15 day cancellation window and this forum. After some tweaking with TCP Optimizer, I'm consistently getting 500 +/- 10% downloads and 100 +/- 10% upload speeds on EVDO Rev 0. While that's not what I would call 'hi speed', it is via Alltel's definition and definitely better than dialup. I'm about 1.5 miles from the nearest tower; zip code 54558. Anyone have suggestions on how I can get better speed? |

Well, that speed is what I would figure a little under average for EVDO on Alltel. During congested times (5-11 PM) you can really tell your speed has been effected. Although, get that thing going at 3 AM and you will just fly. If you can deal with the speed I would stick with it |

How can I tell what signal I'm getting? When we first got our Huwaei EC228 and installed the Quicklink Mobile software, there was a place in the Quicklink window that showed either 1X or EV or DO or EVDO, or something like that. At the time I didn't pay much attention to it. The main thing I paid attention to was the signal strength, which consistently showed 1 bar, sometimes 2. After a couple of weeks suddenly we consistently get 3 bars, sometimes 4 and all our cell phones got MUCH better signal strength in the house and increased speed on the internet. Also, the spot in the Quicklink software that told you what your connection was disappeared - so I can't tell what the connection is. I wondered at first if we were getting Rev. A or not, but now I figure not based on the idea that everywhere they rolled that out was an urban area. We're quite rural in east Texas. The closest big city is Shreveport, La. _________________ Stacy A |

did you try going into the help-about on your qlm window? it may show there what your connecting with. also doing a speed test at (http://speedtest.net/) or (http://testmy.net/) will give you an idea of your connection speed. try it at different times of the day as high traffic will slow it down.
i've got the huawei ec360 so can't give ya much more advice than that. maybe someone with your aircard will see this and have some more detailed instructions for ya.

That zip code is MANITOWISH WATERS as I found which isn't to far away from my zip code in Appleton Wisconsin. I am getting the service tomorrow and from what Alltel told me they have EVDO here.
So best of luck for a roll out in your area. |
I am working with an Alltel card in New London. RevA comes up, but when I move indoors, there is nothing I can do to get it. Should I get an antenna? |
