|
|
Hello, this is just a heads up for anyone planning on getting Verizon BroadbandAccess to use with their PowerBook to access Cisco VPN.
It doesn't work.
Other VPNs work fine, but there is a problem with Cisco.
Verizon is not able to help.
The Cisco Client error looks like the error log below. Basically, when trying to connect, it fails.
| Code: | Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.7.00 (0510)

We are in the process to find out what TCP/IP and UDP ports Cisco is using. I am guessing there is a problem with the Verizon handling UDP traffic (just a guess).
Also, this PowerBook, connects find via Ethernet and Airport, so there is not a firewall issue on it.
I will post more info here, as we find it out, so that hopefully, this will help someone who finds this thread. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

it appears the current version of VZAccess for Mac 1.1, does not support Cisco VPN on Mac OS X. So, check if there is a more current version of VZAccess that works before purchasing.
Verizon Tech Support has confirmed this.
If there is a change, we will post here.
FYI, other VPNs work fine with Mac. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Hmmm... I consistently use Cisco VPN client over the 650 (almost every day), and it works every time.
In fact, I work at Cisco, and other Mac users here haven't had a problem either with the combo. |

Great, thanks for the confirmation. Apparently the problems this one person was having, may be related to his setup/configuration.
Were there any extra steps you needed to perform to get it working?
Thanks! _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| No extras steps required. Same VPN procedure, regardless if I'm using Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or EVDO. |

I will have to get more info from the customer, they were able to use the Cisco Client from ethernet & Airport without problems but had problems over EVDO - on the same Mac. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Could you elaborate a little as to your environment? Which Mac? Which Cisco client and version? Which EVDO vendor, HW and network? Mac OS version?
I am definitely NOT a mac newby, and have NEVER been able to get the Cisco client to work over EVDO. I've resorted to VPN Tracker as a work around, but I'd prefer to use the original Cisco client, if I could.
Thanks in advance,
Greg
P.S. The company I work for is based out of Morrisville, NC, even though I live in TN. |
