|
|
hello i am not in the States and would like to get a EVDO/3G unlimited data plan IF i can make a DIY Router for it (have not signed up yet)
i "heard" that if i have the EXPRESS CARD in my laptop and go to NETWORK CONNECTIONS (Win XP) and BRIDGE the CONNECTIONS to my WiFi or LAN that it would feed my Router (Buffalo running DD-WRT) and in turn feed my PAP2 and other computers can that work???
i now have DSL at home and it feeds my PAP2 VOIP adapter and a few computers at home wired and wireless
if i go for the unlimited plan ($40 Month for service in israel) i want to be able to cancel my DSL
i would not need it as a cellphone so i don't mind leaving it at home but sometimes would take it with me for internet access
they are offering either Express Card or USB what would be better
thank you thegreatfixer |

you can go to this site and it will show you how to set up a wireless hotspot. i have tried it and it works, but it seems to be slower than my cradlepoint mbr 1000.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx
you will need a wireless card for each cpu, but it is really simple to get working. this way bypasses the router, and i do not know about voip. it also has to have one cpu running at all times. i hope this makes sense, i was writing in a hurry. |
