Hi in a couple of months my roomie and me are going to be splitting our internet. He has sattalite right now and i have Alltell Evdo, i've heard that if you dont want to use ICS(which i dont want to) that you have to have a router. If i do get the router im wondering since when i leave the computer on it will d/c after 12 hours. Would it d/c if it was hooked up to a router? And if I do get the router can his regular wireless networking adapter be able to pick it up or is there like required wireless networking cards like 3G recievers? Or does the router just put out the signal as a regular broadband signal.

I know it's confusing because i just typed it all up quickly but im in a need to know.

Although I don't have a router, my understanding is that they do keep the connection alive indefinitely. They do issue a standard wifi signal so normal wifi radios in a pc work with them just fine. Network management software in the router manages the card so standard wifi connection procedures are all that is needed.

And yes, as far as I know, if you aren't going to use ICS, then an EVDO router is the way to share a single internet connection. Just make sure the router you are considering isupports your card.
