This is interesting:

Seems the FCC is thinking about regulating how carriers charge ETFs. What do you guys think? I'm skeptical about the government getting invloved in a contract between two parties. I would think that knowing you're signing a contract for two years, plus the fact that you can cancel within 30 days is sufficient. The one caveat being when someone like Sprint overhauls the terms of the contract. |

The government is already involved in contracts between two parties. Truth in Lending was an excellent law considering what contracts were like before it. There are limits as to what a contract can include.
What do you think courts do when one part sues another over a contract?
Is regulation of public utilities a bad thing? |

I should clarify,
I think the government tends to over-regulate, over-react, and over involve themselves to the detrement of business and thus, the economy. I think Sarbanes-Oxly is a perfect example of that.
When it comes to EFT, I think they should leave it alone. You don't have to enter an agreement with a carrier, and there are alternatives such as tracphone. |

Agreed, 100%--it's a private, voluntary contract, and therefore, the government should have 0% say in it--the only time the government should get involved is when one individual breaks another individual's contract...of courses, that's what the courts are for.
And yes, I think regulating the public utilities is the dumbest thing ever. |
