I have been rummaging around in the KR-1 firmware in hopes of improving the stability (signal disconnects, reboots). I found one programming error and fixed it leading to an improvement in connect time; however, there are still issues that need to be fixed.

Because the KR-1 has wrapped all its evdo control funtions into an executable routine /bin/priority, I cannot fully make changes in the way it performs evdo connections (I did manage to successfully patch /bin/priority to make the change mentioned above). The source code is not in the GPL code on their site. So, I was wondering if Michael could use his connections with Kyocera to get a copy of the /bin/priority source code.

I don't see why Kyocera would balk at this request as it apprently does not plan to release any more firmware updates. Hey Kyocera, why not give someone else a chance to fix your software?

Mackieman, can you, also, help??

Thanks.

Jim

Unfortunately, the source code for KR1 belongs to D-Link. The likelihood of getting anything more than what is currently available is remote, at best. KR1 is end of life as a product so there isn't much going on with it anymore.

Thanks Mackieman. Your reply was what I expected. Guess I'll have to fumble around with reverse engineering. A pain, but I've done it before.
