As we all know, mounting an EVDO antenna on a Ford Expedition has usually been solved using a magnetic mount antenna, seeing as there is almost no other way to do it without drilling holes.

Well, I found another way. I was able to mount my Wilson Cellular Trucker 21" (the one with the spring on the bottom) to one of the thumbscrews that lock the forward overhead rack in place.

Go to Home Depot, into the building construction area and look around for metal framing joints. You will find a variety of joint shapes used to hold beams together, from rectangle ones to t-shaped ones. You want to find a 1/8th inch thick T-shaped metal joint. It just so happens that 3/8th inch holes are drilled in each leg of the T-joint, and this will fit the Wilson Cellular antenna. The hole opposite the one for the Wilson antenna just happens to perfectly align over the thumbscrew hole directly behind one side of the rack in the rack mount itself. If you orient the T-joint so that the third leg is parallel to the rack guides and facing toward the rear of the vehicle, this third leg will stabalize any twist in the joint that could happen because of the wind. I'd upload a pic of it, but I dont know how on this post. but this allowed the antenna to be fitted to the roof of the vehicle and since the antenna has its own built in ground plane, it is perfectly happy. Just remember that you will need to lay the antenna down if you want to park the vehicle in the garage. But this did work fine for me. Very little fuss.
