Interesting happening this AM: I was at a rest stop 7 miles north of Oceanside and the Kyocera 650 card was pulling a 126 "signal" and no actual internet access.

I applied the Verizon "window stickum" antenna (two suction cups type) to the window in the direction of town and pulled a 91 - enough for National Access, an EMail check and decent web-forum speeds.

I have no doubt the "Arc tombstone" antenna would do better, except it's cord is much shorter. So my plan now is to wait for the Kyocera WiFi gateway box, get an Arc Tombstone with it and mount both close to my roof. I may even try to figure out how to waterproof the tombstone and mount it externally Smile.

For now the cheapie antenna that Verizon stores sell (with Kyocera 650-specific adapter) for all of $30 combined isn't a bad unit - and it'll always be nice to have in my computer bag as a last-ditch backup.
