|
|
There are already complaints about this in the original SmartView for Mac thread, but no resolution posted... One user indicated they have a workaround, but unfortunately gave not details...
To recap, the problem is: SmartView continually asks for the admin username/password when you hit the "connect" button. Even after answering this request properly, SmartView will not connect you. Like another poster in the other thread, I have VMware Fusion installed. I'm not sure if this is related or not.
Please help!
Thanks. |

Wifi can be shared between windows and OS X; however, the EVDO connection must be dropped, at least I cannot find out how to share one, when switching between Mac and Windows in Fusion.
I do not have to enter the password any more so I think I found some setting in Windows using Sprint's Connection Manager to keep the password which is stored on the card. Once that is set, I think it works on either platform. |

I'm sorry, but it seems the above reply was unrelated to my initial post. The question is not related to Internet Connection Sharing or WiFi... It is simply that connecting via SmartView in Mac OS X does not work. When the "connect" button is pressed, the admin username/password is requested by the operating system.
Thanks! |

| Ditto... same issue happening, and I have VMWare Fusion 1.1.1 installed. I tried disabling the vmnet1 and vmnet8 adapters using ifconfig, but to no avail. Lame. I think i'm going to take it back and go with AT&T. |

| I then tried uninstalling Fusion... to no avail. It looks like this isn't fusion related. |

Solution - don't use SmartView on OSX. Yes, I know, you lose LBA and other fun stuff.
In Leopard:
Go to System Preferences > Network
Select your data device
Enter "#777" for the phone #
Go to "Advanced"
Change vendor to "Sprint"
Change Dial Mode to "Ignore Dial Tone"
Press OK
Hit Connect.
Done. |

Thanks -- still looking for a way to use SmartView though. You are correct, it is easy to connect without it, but it would be nice to be able to use the new interface and features. An EVDOinfo rep clearly he indicated he had a fix in the previous thread on this, but did not say what it was or how to do it...
Thanks all. |

Here's what I was referring to, with somebody else's plea for Michael (Site Admin) to provide his solution... Michael, are you here?

Hi guys,
I have Fusion installed on my MBP (10.5.3), and am able to use my EVDO connection with OS X or XP, so it can be done.
After wasting hours with this, I'd recommend installing Smart View not by using the auto-install feature, but by removing what you've tried to install, and downloading the latest version from Sprint:
http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/index.jsp?internalId=downloads
Fixed my issue....

I'm having the same issues with Smartview on my Macbook Pro! I click on Connect, it asks for my password, and then does nothing when I enter it. I called 3gstore, and was told I have to reinstall Leopard using Archive and Install! Seriously?!
Well, after being on hold for over an hour without more information, the call got dropped. So I just went ahead and reinstalled Leapard. Guess what. IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! Does the exact same thing.
Please tell me someone has a fix for this! |

This worked for me.
Still wish I could use the SmartView software though! |
