In case you missed my post in the other thread, there is now usage data posted in our accounts on sprint.com. Log on and click on usage details. I tried to determine how current it is but so far haven't been able to make it change the total.

There are definite bugs in the system. My numbers have not changed since I first posted about this. In addition, there is a message that says my payment is overdue and to pay now Confused. I paid it a week in advance so I clicked on the alert to see what was going on. I had a past due balance of $0.00 due now. I'll continue to track my own data for now.

A message to me from Sprint regarding my complaint about not being able to monitor data card usage:

"Hi Mr. XXXX. My name is YYYY. I'm with Sprint Nextel Executive Services regarding the complaint that we received regarding your Sprint Nextel account with you not being able to have the option to monitor your current data usage. At this time there is no system in place for customers to monitor their monthly usage. Therefore, in accordance with our terms and conditions should you like to cancel prior to the end of your contract date, we will go ahead and waive the early termination fee for you as a courtesy. Again we do apologize for any inconvenience that you may have received regarding this complaint. If you have further questions, feel free to call me at zzz-zzz-zzzz. Thanks."

This message was left for me the afternoon of June 17, 2008.

I began to be able to monitor my usage about June 8, 2008.

Just another example of Sprint Customer Service reps not having a clue.

They may be telling the truth. My usage on the Sprint website hasn't updated all day. The date and time are correct though. I've tried two different browsers with the same result.

For nearly four years I couldn't see data usage.

Then, about June 8, 2008, I begain to see usage within the monthly billing cycle.

Now that my billing cycle has just started, I'm back to nothing displayed, showing instead: "There is no usage for this subscriber for this billing period."

Since I started looking on Wednesday June 18, I've usually gotten the screen shown a couple of messages before this one. Once I arrived at an entirely different screen explaining that usage information isn't available.

My experience is a little different from what most others are reporting: my usage number has been going up periodically. Right now it's showing 20,495,427 since my billing cycle began on June 2. This number is consistent with what I saw the last two days, i.e., about 1GB/day. But I can't reconcile it in any way with our actual usage.

I've just reset my router's statistics and will try to check tomorrow around the same time to see whether it shows anything remotely similar to the number reported on sprint.com.

Andy

I think maybe I've figured this out. The usage page says "Data usage displayed in KB (kilobytes)". If the number is really Kb (kilobits), the reported usage is believable for my account.

Any thoughts?

Nope, my guess is that is indeed kiloBYTES, in which that is indeed about 20 Gig over the course of what, 18 days? Man, that strikes me as a LOT of data, especially over a cell line. But then again, i've seen reports of 30 Gig, or even 80 Gig/month or more as well.

I'm wondering if that byte counter is aggregating multiple users' data counts and not separating the tallies correctly, CDMA being what it is.

I've been using a wifi connection I can snag with my usb antenna for the last few days, cause sprint has been really slow (seems to be close to back to normal I am using it right now) my usage went up LOL 2245968 the sprint usb modem was sitting on the desk so it's either about 3 days behind, which is possible or it's completely messed up.

Data usage displayed in KB (kilobytes)
1MB = 1024KB
1GB = 1024MB or 1,048,576KB

I have limited my time on the internet to an hour a day and downloaded one 5 meg file, frequented 3 forums and no utube or streaming downloads I consider myself a light user and wound up with 20+ gigabytes. I have unlimited service S-720 data card and Linksys router Du meter shows less than a gigabyte for the same perod so there is a dead cat on the line somewhere<G>
