Evdo signal blocked at shows?

Is it possible to block evdo access without affecting cell phone?

We have a booth in a convention center in Orlando Florida right now. Our evdo setup was working on Friday in Seattle, but today in the convention center the Dlink DIR-450 setup app says that there is no evdo signal at all. Cell phones are working fine.Verizon says there are no service problem in the area at this time.

Is it possible that the show administrators are blocking access to evdo? Has anyone heard of that being done? The show charges $850 for Internet access so they have an incentive to block other access if its possible.

If the signal is not being blocked, can anyone think of a reason that the DIR-450 will not connect and reports that there is no signal? Is it common for a pc card to just go bad?

Our guy will take the setup offsite at the first break to see if it connects there.

Update: He took the evdo access point offsite and it still does not work:( The only thing I can think of is that card went bad somehow. The light on the card illumintes wehn plugged in, but the DIR-450 will not conenct and shows no signal in the setup status.

Anyone have a suggestion of what I could try to get it to work?
