I've searched the forum and read all the ps3 messages, but can't come up with a definite answer on this one...

I'm trying to help a friend set up an Alltel UM-150 with the 350 to run a laptop and ps3... We've got it up and running but it drops off for long stretches sometimes, with no rhyme or reason as to the cause and then it will start working again. During this time the laptop continues to work perfectly, so I know the issue doesn't lie with the signal dropping out.

Rather than mess with enabling the ports for specific games I just enabled DMZ for the ps3 when we set it up, however every time the router restarts it gives the ps3 a new IP address. Ironically even with the correct address not listed in the DMZ box it works most of the time via wireless, but it won't work at all when the PS3 is connected to the LAN port on the 350.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get the PS3 to work with the LAN port, would it help to reserve an IP for the PS3 to lock that in, make that the DMZ IP, and then plug it into the Ethernet port?

I'm using the 2.1 firmware on the 350...

Is your PS3 using DHCP or a static IP address?

I know that with many routers, i.e. my linksys, dlink, buffallo and belkin routers, they don't like the PS3's DHCP client. Statically assign IP and DNS and that has fixed it in my experience.

Do you know if Alltel does port blocking like Sprint? I use verizon and know of some blocked ports.
