|
|
I just got off the phone with Sprint Support. They have strongly emphasized that my Connection Card Data Plan UNL will remain unlimited.
I mentioned the rumor about new customers having the bandwidth limit imposed instead and they said that's not true either.
Just to be a tower pig, I called them on my VOIP phone through the card.
It's been a real cliff-hanger to read all these long threads about end-of-times telephony but now I can go back to work and play. |

There is a thread with over 400 replies on this topic and yet you make another one simply to say its not true and everyone should take your word for it.
I think 3G has some better inside contacts than your CSR you spoke with. May as well go back in play your good till the 13th of July. |

LOL just don't hit me with caps and bold with it!
I'd call a few more reps if you read the main thread you'll see some have got the response you got. It appears some CSR's just don't know about it yet. |

I talked to 3 reps, the last one having put me on hold (proof of collaboration) for a while before giving me an official word.
They were very confident and were not confused, under-informed or ill-advised.
I would rather run with the current stand on Sprint policy than entertain the possibility that a competitor is running muckrake "this is it" posts on evdoforums just to see how many Sprinters jump ship.
It would be cheap and easy to post negatives so my 40 minute call investment feels pretty good right now.
I'm not trying to sway opinion, just pass on better news. I'm not in the business either.
If 1/8th of the 400 end-of-evdo-as-we-know-it folks would call Sprint too and get word along with a case number for the conversation, it could go a long way if the caller wants to be grandfathered into UNL service, just in case there's a contradictory corporate decision down the line.
If a judge were to see the transcript of a case numbered decision to favor a UNL account throughout the entire contract period or possibly beyond, a customer could recover more than a rebate if they're being denied critical and irreplaceable service. |

I wish a Sprint rep would tell me I was going to die tomorrow, because then I'd know that I will live a thousand years.
None of them could find their own butts with both hands. If you really want to play the, "a rep told me so" game, the best thing you can do is ask them to put it in writing like a man. A verbal agreement isn't worth the paper its printed on.

this is what I just got, it's midnight central time here. I was just browsing sprint.com to see if any changes had taken place, none. a chat window popped up and this is what I got:
Agent: Hello, I'm a Sprint products and services online specialist. May I help you pick the plan that is best for you?
You: i was just wondering when the 5 gig data cap goes into effect
You: and what happens if i go over
Agent: I can help you with that. First; may I move this chat to the top of the window? It will be out of the way and I can stay with you in case you run into any problems or if you have any questions. Is that okay?
You: ok
Agent: In a couple weeks on that.
You: and if i go over then what?
(5 minute pause)
You: hello?
(another minute pause)
Agent: There will be a cost for that.
You: what kind of cost?
Agent: That i do not know at this time.
You: i read in a press release there would be no cost...
You: does anyone know anything? i can't risk a $500 phone bill if you start charging me 50 cents a meg like verizon does
(another 5 minute pause)
Agent: I'm sorry. Unfortunately, I am unable to assist you with your request online. Please contact our Customer Care where they would be happy to help you. Please give them a call at 1-800-639-6111.
some "specialist." Who do you have to call to get the confident people who know what they are talking about to give us real answers? |

Um.... no. That is proof that you'll stay on the line expecting to get decent information. For all you know, they rep took a potty break while you were on hold. And given the total lack of reliable information and conflicting information from Sprint reps, I expect the information written on their bathroom walls to be more reliable than the things they've been saying.

To paraphrase Monty Python, the official word is there is no official word.
| Quote: | | They were very confident and were not confused, under-informed or ill-advised. |
And how would you actually know this? Anyone can put on an air of confidence, especially over the phone or in a chat room. They are called "con" men, after all.

And how are we to believe you about this?

And that is what they've been doing, which you'd see if you had read the main thread. And the "official" answers have been all over the map.
Not trying to rag on you (too much), but you've only been one more poster with the non-official "official" word and have still not presented anything to prove one way or the other what the truly official policy will be. Perhaps you are right, perhaps you are wrong. But everyone who's reported their conversation/chat with Sprint has pretty much reported something different. |

Well, the problem with that is most of the reps are women. |

| Just went into sprint store. I have Verizon but thought about trying Sprint to see if I could get better speed. The salesman was still pushing that Sprint is unlimited. I dont know! |

Never rely on verbal information when it comes to contracts not matter who the vendor is. Only go with what is in writing from official contracts or statements, not individuals who work there. Many CSR's don't know about this yet because it's not officially in effect yet.
It sounds to me that Sprint won't be strictly enforcing this but they do have to get rid of any mention of unlimited data in ads by the time this officially goes into effect. So much for the 'Simply Everything' plan. |

The simply everything plan is for phones. Phones aren't affected by this cap. Only data cards and people who tether their phones to their computers. |

I would hold off on purchasing anything for a few weeks. The company is being vague right now. They are sending out notices about the caps saying they MIGHT take action if you go over, but, if you call Sprint's billing department, they will deny everything. I was told this was just an internet rumor by billing, just yesterday. So either she is lying, or perhaps she doesn't know, or, the couple of dozen people who have posted their notices in this forum are lying, as well as DSLreports, and yahoo news, they are lying too. Right. It could be a few months before we find out if Sprint plans on enforcing this or not. AT&T did a similar move last year, put the 5 gig cap into their TOS, but they do not enforce it, at least they weren't when I left a month ago. |

There was nothing vague in the memo on my bill...... You are kidding right? As far as us lying here? This what is on my bill. You can choose to believe or not to believe, but rest assured the sun has risen today! Yeah i guess all of us, 3G and the rest are all lying. What a ludicrous statement to make! could be right about no enforcement, but we'll see. Too funny!
Connection and Phone as Modem
Plans T&Cs Change Effective in 30 days, Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred and to deny, terminate, modify, or suspend service if usage exceeds 5 GB/month in total or 300 MB/month while roaming off network. Check your rights under the T&Cs on sprint.com .
No what would be their intent on sending such info out if they had no intention on following up on it? Try and scare people into cutting back? I think not. Nobody expected this yet here it is so nothing would surprise me to see shortly down the road they will charge for overages like 'Verizon. Nothing surprises me anymore after this. When I called to verify it was made clear to me I could cancel without the ETF's. seems pretty clear to me. Not too vague either if they are offering customers to bail without ETF's. Why would they allow all the customers to bail then? Yep there's nothing vague here to me. |
