I'm getting ready to switch over to Verizon's Broadband and want to make sure I'll do it the right way.
What I want is a desktop wireless router which also can be connected to my computer via it's RJ45 lan cable. Obviously it will have either USB or whatever to plug in the EVDO device that connects to Verizon's Broadband. (I've heard both good and bad about which of these USB EVDO devices, including the newer USB 720 having problems.)
This system will be used at home, but more importantly I'll put it in our RV when we're on the road. The RV situation will require a USB EVDO device to have an external antenna connector, because we get into some poor signal areas while traveling.
I'm sure a lot of others have discussed this issue also. I've tried to search for similar situations as mine, but haven't found exactly what I'm trying to do.
Please give me your thoughts. |

The best router that is mobile is the CTR350. What I have setup is a CTR350 with the Verizon USB 720 EVDO Card which plugs in the CTR350 usb port. The router also has a lan jack so you can use with a computer that does not have WiFi. If you need more info the happy people at 3gstore will be happy to help get a great setup. |

i participate on about a dozen RV forums, and as a result, 3gstore staff have supported thousands of RVers with their EVDO setup.
This pic shows a very popular verizon setup. the UM150 with CTR350:
(notice the single ethernet cable running from CTR350 router, to my laptop)
yes, the UM150 has an antenna jack to allow for external high gain antennas:
3gstore looks forward to setting you up, and supporting you after the fact.

| Thanks Rickey318 & Alex... this is exactly what I'm looking for. Is there a way one can hook up two computers via the single lan connector or would I need to update to a larger router that has more connections? |

the MBR1000 has 4 ethernet ports. another option would be to use an network switch in conjunction with a CTR350. many people have a network switch laying around. take a look at this earlier post of mine:

Yes, the MBR1000 would work or you can then buy a cheap router or hub to work with the CTR350. |

Thanks. While I'm at it, are there any differences between the UM150 and the USB720 that I need to concern myself with?
I like the idea of the CTR350, which means I think I'd just go with the network switch. |

performance wise, they are both capable of fastest Rev-A speeds. they both have antenna jacks to allow for attaching high gain antennas... important because good signal is needed for best speeds.
what's cool about the UM150 is that it can swivel up and out of the way, and it has cool LED lights on its body to indicate signal it is receiving. this is the only device that does that.
here's a photo showing the UM150 attached to a PHS300 router, and you can clearly see the UM150 is receiving full signal:

I have the USB 720 which doesn't have the LCD to display the indicate signal. But, I think it does very well. I also heard the UM150 usb plug is easy to break. But, I don't know. |
