Same with me. No cap. Cool

Honestly can not believe that Sprint is still marketing the "unlimited" plan on their web site. Not a word regarding a pending cap. I would not be a mellow fellow if I signed up thinking unlimited and then they capped me a month latter.

Quote:
I would cancel if the 5GB cap ends up affecting me. When I first got the unlimited plan, Sprint billed it as Broadband Speeds for watching videos and other bandwidth intensive things. So, they advertised unlimited data, on a high speed network and didn't anticipate that A) people would use it for what they advertised for and B) people liked it and they added many subscribers. Now they claim we're bandwidth hogs, and too many people bought broadband cards.

How did they not see this coming?

That's exactly it! They did see it coming, now they can squeeze the supply and charge more for the demand. Economics 101. Since all the suppliers of this service are busy copying each other, someone should pay attention to the various anti-trust laws. No single company owns the internet or the phone lines and there are no over-capacity issues.

I just cancelled as well. Received the 5GB notification 2 days ago in the mail. I'm so glad it wasn't a nightmare to cancel. The CSR I spoke with knew about the 5GB cap and didn't try arguing in regards to it.

Will be using AT&T soon as well. I borrowed a friend's AT&T data card to test out and I get much better speeds with it in my area. So for same soft cap, faster speeds, awesome!

Yea they were very easy to cancel with, i got no argument. I get better speeds with att too and that's just using my phone as test. I'll wait a couple weeks and order the att 881 usb since it works with my cradlepoint router.

I really don't know how much bandwidth i use, i've used a gig this week, which means i prolly use 4 to 5 gigs a month, i do sometimes use my xbox on it, but i have a wifi connection I can snag for that if need be.

In the early Nineties I sold ADSL equipment to the carriers. They asked me who the hell would ever need more than 14.4 dial-up speed, and what would "always-on" be good for, and "customers will never ask for flat rates". Well, that's the people who now run Sprint or the other few remaining carriers today.

Back to the Future = STONE AGE II

But that's what cartels are for, Oxford Dictionary: "An association of manufacturers or suppliers formed to maintain high prices and restrict competition."

/sigh...

Well im still suprised that this post hasnt been flooded yet... honistly however... if you have checked and you have never gone over your 5GB vote no...

HOWEVER!!!!!! if you DO but plan to make them disconnect you themselves and/or you have been told you will be unaffected and/or you are waiting to see and/or you have already canceled and/or you put the breaks on an almost purchase within the last month or 2......

please do the right thing people and vote that you will be canceling...

im afraid this is why most company's make their decision... no common feeling among people about the disturbance... and thinking that it will keep them making more money and that WE as customers are nothing but spare change... this really needs to change...

i have a HUGE feeling that it at least is going to affect more then 1% maybe min 4%... but they are saying that once again too look good in the buyout that "might" be coming...... and here i thought i was going to renew for 2 more years this December... but i guess im just gonna outright cancel... and i live in the sticks as well with no DSL/Cable... and cannot afford $150+ Sat...

/kill sprint

I think the reason it hasn't been flooded is because the vast, vast majority of EVDO Sprint users could care less as it will not affect them. I make the mistake sometimes of thinking forums like this are attracting the attention of the masses but when you think about it, probably less than 1% of the current Sprint EVDO account holders have ever read or heard about this forum and of those, less than 1% are affected by the new Sprint policy. 1% of 1% is a smidgeon of users so hence, very little activity with respect to feeling the need to cast a vote. As a smidgeon, I did vote. Very Happy

Well, us 'smidgeon's' must be having some effect. I just got my first bill today, it doesn't mention anything about a plan change and it still calls my service UNL. So Sprint must be reading and paying attention to this and other forums. I did contact my congressman over concerns of collusion among cell providers, being that all of them are changing their plans to the same ridiculous low settings, and how they are advertising unlimited services. Let's see: racketeering, bait & switch, anti-trust and a few other laws they're potentially violating. Maybe they don't want an investigation at this time?

But, I don't believe us evdo user's are 1%. To belittle your opponent is propaganda-101, I'd like to see them back-up that statement with some proof.

I manage about 50-90 Gigs a month. I keep the internet on 24/7 pretty much exceptions to computer resets of course. Now, I have yet to get a bandwith cap, and I think it's worth the 60 a month if I exuast 40+gigs a month.
50+Gig a month
1 Computer
No router/lan
150-160kb/s down
80-100kb/s up
160-200 ping
Verizon Rev-A
USB-720
60 dollar a month. A 1Gig/1Dollar seems fair I thinks. Smile
But I will soon add a 8 mb connection for SUPER low ping, just for CS:S. And this broadband card will just stream a constant video/movie vault onto my 3TB hdd Raid array.
My friend said I should buy the PHS300 router, and buy this program that prevents Verizon from seeing my bandwith. So I can max out my connection in games. And have a "Unlimited connection."
But as far as I know, I only care about ping/dl So I may do both of those, worth it, every penny.... Make use of that 3-SLI 9800's I got running for me..... Very Happy
