|
|
New to routers and such so forgive me. I have a um150 through alltel I use for my internet. Plugged directly in to the back of my pc the um150 works fine.
The mbr1000 I ordered came in yesterday. I followed all the instructions to hook it up and plugged the um150 into the back. Web browsing seemed to work ok. I played WoW for about thirty minutes with no problem. I then went on to create a wireless link to my PS3 which after setting up went into an update.
I logged back into WoW and played a little bit more till all of the sudden I started getting big lag spikes. My ping will freeze in excess of 2k-5k. Now as soon as i connect to WoW after maybe thirty seconds to a minute everything lags out and I get disconnected. CS Source seems to work fine still, ping is as it has always been. I can connect the um150 back directly to the PC and everything is fine again WoW works like a charm.
I reset the router back to factory defaults thinking maybe I messed something up when I linked the PS3 to it. Still no luck WoW freezes up as soon as I log in. I've looked around here and saw problems somewhat similar to what i'm having but don't wanna try anything that will make me even more agitated with out double checking first. My signal is at a solid 4 bars on the router and um150 with a -75. I think thats as good as the um150 will show in the same place i was getting low -60 with my cdu550.
Please help me. What am I doing wrong, missing? The PC is running Vista home premium 32 bit. Any info I have left out that will help please ask as I said at the beginning I'm new to all of this. |

There is a known problem with TCP Windows Size in Vista and it causes this exact behavior. It occurs more commonly through Ethernet/Wi-Fi connections.
You can google it, it's a Vista problem, but you can see the article from microsoft here:

Mountaintroll,
Since you purchased your MBR1000 from 3Gstore, I put in a support ticket for your issue. The 3Gstore.com techs have sent you a few tips, including information on how to tweak the MBR1000 for WoW. |

First I would like to say thanks for the timely willingness to help. My problem is not fixed yet but i hope it will be soon.
To kool-aid: the pings to google are around 200 give or take 20 or so while wow is acting up. my psn id is mtntroll.
To hardware thanks for the link i tried that but it didn't work either.
And to torrey: thank you for putting the ticket in I have not recieved an email i'm assuming that will be the deliver method for the tips. Nothing in my in box or the spam box.
Any other ideas?

I have the same modem and router on the Verizon net work and have the same problem. Plays fine when direct to the PC... but lags out after about a minute in of game play through the router.
XP Pro on the PC.

I was in touch with the 3gstore support team today. Here is the response I got from them.
"We are still waiting on this build of firmware, we are expecting to get it in
our test labs next week. Expect another response to this ticket mid-next week when we have more info available on the new firmware version that is suppose to fix WoW issues."
My fingers are crossed and hope that everything works out with the firmware. |

| Ah man! Wish I'd seen this post before I ordered my mbr1000. So now I'm guessing that it will get here tomorrow and not work with WoW? That sucks. WoW is pretty much 80% of my online time. |

It must be something with that modem. I received my MBR1000 yesterday, unboxed it, plugged in my 595u, hooked it to my hub and logged into WoW from my laptop in under 20 mins. Didn't have to turn anything on or off or setup any rules...
I know this doesn't provide an "answer" but might help with troubleshooting. It sounds like it might specific to the um150/MBR combo |

Definitely hope that's the case.
The router came in today. Haven't had a chance to do anything yet but get it up and running (dang job!). My modem won't be here for a few more days so I'll be testing it hooked up to my charter cable ISP for the WAN.
I'll have that setup and running WoW if possible tonight so we'll see how it goes.
So, you didn't have to setup any of the port forwarding, etc.? I've never had to do that with my previous router but I know some that have.
Oh, and my modem when it gets here will be the 881u. So that will also add a little more datum for the testing samples. |

That is correct, I never indicated that there was . That support ticket contained "a few tips" on configuring/tweaking the routers settings for WoW. |
