EVDO PRL info. Telus 0090:0000:.../26 Bell 0090:0900 or 0090:0e00../26

Open your EVDO prl file with RL editor, and look at the subnet ID.. (you need to drag it out a bit to see the whole thing)

0090:0E00:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26 = Bell (subnet color code 1x)
0090:0900:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26 = Bell (subnet color code 5x)
Look at the acq index for the channels used.
I have no idea what subnet color code is yet

0090:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26 = Telus

This is similar to "SID" in the 1x network.
You can have one SID, and another EV SID (Subnet ID).
To check you are using the 'other network's' EV SID, check the "Active Set Pilot PN, the PN is in HEX, just convert it back to DEC and you will see your familiar "PN")

If you plan to clone EVDO, you can have them both go online at the same time by roaming one and not roaming the other. (make sure data roaming is 'free' with your service before trying)

As to the USA network, can't test (not in USA), but it is not that hard, just look with ##DEBUG your "channel Number" and figure out the reverse ..

Anyway if someone find this useful can reply more, I can try to help out.

---
To get "EVDO Rev B" type of channel bonding with Rev A networks one could:

Get 2 novatels, change the ESN according to shadowmite.., then have one PRL point to one subnet id, and the one to another, or multiple EVDO carriers,(more than 2). as to bonding the connection maybe use wingate/linux similar.

To receive calls while using a novatel,.. change the ESN of a phone to match the novatel, then set all the novatels to SCI = 2, and the phone to SCI = 0, since the phone has a faster check time, it would catch it. If not, your phone would still ring, but would "No caller ID", and when you answer it does not connect.

---
Canada is now has a terrible time with unlimited data because providers like Rogers are charging for over 60GB usage and enabling BPI+ (Docsis 1.1 - make cloning of modems impossible) and then finally Telus removing their $75 unlimited plans.

Interesting, Thanks! In the States, I found the following:

Some probable VERIZON Subnet IDs:

0080:0580:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0081:F300:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0090:0180:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26

Some probable SPRINT Subnet IDs:

0080:5100:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0084:0040:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0084:0AC0:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0084:46C0:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26
0086:6200:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26

Still trying to figure out how to get HDR channel out of those. When I follow the indices back to the acq table, the channel number doesn't match actual. For example, I found by trial and error (PREF vs NEG) that this is the PRL entry that actually yields HDR chan 173 with pn offset 36:

=============== ROAMING LIST ===============

You have to play with QXDM, create ISF files, then phrase them with QCAT to understand the EVDO tower stuff. will try to post more info later on someday..

Did not find QCAT, although I've read that v5.04 and v5.1 may exist. Is there any other soft to do the phrasing?

In Canada, do Telus and Bell share EVDO roaming (not just 1xRTT)? In the States, that seems to be less common (at least not between Verizon and Sprint, although AllTel and US Cellular may). I've been playing with some AllTel PRLs that may support EVDO roaming, but it still isn't working for me (I might need to adjust a firmware setting too -- it's a Verizon card). Even from a Telus area in Canada, I think I only got 1xRTT through my Verizon card (I think EVDO initially showed available, but then disappeared and dropped to 1xRTT for the actual connection -- I'll have to check that again next time).

Here's a US Cellular Subnet ID:
0080:0140:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/26

Would both modems have to be exactly the same make, model and firmware? Would both have to be usb, or could one be pcmcia or express? Any other settings that need to be copied, or can everything else be automatically provisioned? For example, does the HDR password stay relatively fixed? If same model (say 720) & firmware, how can a more thorough backup/restore of most or all settings/passwords be performed once esn is good? Cradlepoint okay for bonding?

I am not engineer so my theories are more like mad scientist.

To do Rev.B you cannot have both same esn on the same network, you can have same esn, if one is on one network, and the other on the other.

It might be helpful to have 2 evdo accounts on the same network, then aim the antenna to another tower, while the other aims to the other tower directly with a directional antenna.

You can use QCAT/QXDM Logging view to find out where your EVDO tower is, there is a Longitude and Latitude that the tower reports.

In Canada, Bell 1X/voice reports Latitude/Longitude, (not sure about the Western Canada.., or its EVDO towers yet, have not bother to check)

Telus only reports Latitude/Longitude of its tower with EVDO towers, and not 1x/voice towers, it will show 0 and 0 for that. (So the conversion is a bit hard.. you can do a x divide by 14400, but for the longitude, I have to memory patch the QXDM because when you divide that by 14400, for the EASTERN hemisphere its give the correct answer, but not for the WESTERN hemisphere. )

Also don't expect automatic provision to work?? I can't even get OTA PRL to work properly, sometimes have to switch the PREV_REVISION from 6 to lower.. anyway

As to modems, it doesn't matter what kind. but you have to make sure the ESN provisioned is support EVDO (regular phone with EV is fine, doesn't have to be smartphone/datacard), otherwise the "AN" cannot login and you can't connect EVDO, (the "EVDO Rev" text just flash on and off in mobilink.. I have not trace that with QXDM. but the CHAP log from the AN connection from QCAT is similar to normal linux pppd ones)

I have no money to buy cradlepoint, so can't answer on that.

You really have to 'know' the network, to know what NAI/AN/UM/RM settings to use. you have to sometimes ask in the forums.

The problem with qcat is that (I think carver 4shared has it) it will expire the license, I've managed to patch that but don't want to release it till people really start using QCAT.

The other app is CAIT, it has the friendlyViewer that will show you what hex => binary => meaning, but I have not "log" with CAIT yet.
Also, log formats are different again Sad have to relog with CAIT so the friendlyviewer can view it.

I ask that question in the forums on how much Telus/Bell pay each other for roaming, but people tell me its "trade secret". When Telus roams on Bell, no NAI changes are needed, thats why its call "Roam"

I have no idea about Verizon roam on Telus, unless someone can send me an active verizon esn/phone# for experiment??

I have no idea what Subnet ID means yet, but for some reason my connection supports Ipv6? some BT clients are ipv6? maybe its a ipv4toipv6 thinggy.

I also don't understand "sectors" at this point.
