I have the v740...on a Macbook Pro it sux...constantly flips from rev(a) to national broadband..meaning a ping of 120 to 1200....Verizon tech is useless so before quitting and trying Sprint is there really any difference? my downloads are avg 300 uploads 90.

My area is better covered by Verizon. I use Sprint now. My connection is much faster then with Verizon.

I had Verizon RevA. Constantly flipped back to national access like yours. Even RevA wasnt that good

I have Sprint Rev0 now. I love it. Get anywhere from 1500-1900kb down and a measly 100kb up. Its locked EVDO rarly disconnets rarly hiccups.

Sprint has my vote.

I guess it depends on where you stay. I have Verizon and when I use it for backup I always get Rev A Internet in my area (Shreveport, LA). Works very good with the CTR350 Router I have and work well with my Xbox 360 to play online and do the updates. Very Happy

I thought Sprint used the same towers as Verizon??? Wondering if they make an express card for Macbook Pro's.

Its interesting... when I click on the bars It tells me thatI am 2.5G instead of 3G.

Anyhow I am sick of the BS and the poor customer service....

I think I am going to give Sprint a shot... so which modem is the fastest/best re: locking on signals?

Thanx

I've had good coverage and service from both, but right now is about the best I've had and currently I'm with Sprint now...

for a macbook pro, your best option is the EX720 expresscard.
if you prefer to go USB, i'd suggest the new Compass 597

there is no "fastest"... they have all proven to be capable of top speeds that a tower has available... what matters is how good a signal you have.

right now and thru may 31st, you'll get a free booster antenna with every device and new contract, from 3gstore. the antenna can really help in areas with weak signal.

In some places they co-locate on a tower. In others they are separate. For example, in my area all of the Sprint cell antennas are on towers owned by SBA. Verizon's antennas are on completely different towers.

Thats the truth! It really depends on how many people are using that particular tower/provider in your area...there is only so much available bandwidth per tower...just like with Cable service there is only so much available (shared) bandwidth per neighborhood.

it really does depend on where you are, and how "well fed" the tower you connect to is.

lately, i've found some really well fed verizon towers in my area.

for instance... this was last week using my v740:
