|
|
[Admin: This thread started off as a rumor and it is true We encourage you to add your comments, as people @ Sprint do monitor EVDOforums.com. For more info see: Sprint Consumer EVDO data plans to have 5GB limit - EVDOinfo.com ]
This is not 100% confirmed, none-the-less...the forums that it is at has a number of Sprint employees, and the particular guy who posted this is a Sprint employee:
| SNI.RD wrote: | | Internal Sprint Memo wrote: | | "Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred and to deny, terminate, modify, or suspend service if usage exceeds 5GB per month in total or 300MB/month while off-network roaming. Check your subscriber agreement rights on Sprint.com" |
Will they enforce it or not... we will find out. They also mentioned in another e-mail that they will be enforcing the 800min per month roaming rule; and termination letters are being sent out. You can leave ETF free!
And they are changing the Terms of Service which will be affective July 13th. So that is another way to easily get out of contract. It seems as though this is only applying to PAM and Data Card plans - and not to Vision/PowerVision Pacakges (that is how it seems...). From the memos we got - but we could be interpreting it incorrectly.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
BUT! - Terms of Service effective on July 31st - so you should have the normal 30 day window to cancel without paying the ETF fee if you choose. Just beware AT&T and Verizon also have data caps (the same or less usage than Sprint). |
If this is indeed true, I'm definitely toast...amongst the multiple PCs (and 1 gaming console I have), I go through about 7.5-11.5GB each month, so this won't be pretty for me, if this is, indeed true....*sigh* dial-up, here we come again.
I really really hope that this is disinformation or just flat-out wrong, because, if it is, then Sprint has little to no advantage over the other carriers (except for coverage). |

Ouch that sucks for sprint users. I guess I no longer need them to come to my area and will stick with Verizons service.
Just curious are they going to do overage charges similar to Verizon?
Karma sucks though for all these sprint users telling people get sprint its unlimited it this is in fact going to happen.
Do you have any reference links? |

| I hope they don't do this. The unlimited plan was the reason why I went with Sprint instead of Verizon. |

Among other reasons me too. I will cancel my service and live without internet if they cap at 5gb. I signed up for unlimited... For 60$ it should be unlimited that isn't cheap compared to other internets... other internet service i can't get ...

Could somebody please tell me how to view the amount of data I'm using. I don't want to get terminated!
Sorry for the newbie question. Thanks!

| So if Sprint does put in place a 5 gig cap and I download about 40 gigs worth of linux distos maybe they will give me the boot E.T.F. free then I can go back to trusty unlimited dialup !! |

Although it may not be pretty, you can get multiple cards/accounts to cover the excess over 5 Gigs... This may be too obvious to be considered. |

Hope your joking about that... I make a decent living and there is no way in blankity blank I'm going to pay 120, 180 $$ a month for internet. That is outrages to suggest and you know this.
I have faith that they will leave me alone, they don't even have RevA (i have Rev0, and I like it, wish pings where better though) in my area and its mainly farmers up around my area. I'm sure I'm pulling much more then 5gb with 3 computers regularly using it (2 laptop 1 desktop), and another one (has 2 sata HDDs i use for offline storage) just rarely.
FYI my sprint page doesn't even show stats on my usage, never has, always says something to the effect "this feature is unavailable". I hope it stays unavailable.
Will I go to dial up if they give me free ETF? No
I will go back to the way I was living after I got out of college... No internet, my social life could use it anyways. I might relocate to the town I work in, they have Road Runner there |

Okay, I'm going to ask again ...how am I supposed to know that I'm using over 5 GB if there is nowhere to see how much data I'm using a month.
I can see on the SCM how much data I'm using per session but unless I keep track every time I log in and out, how am I suppose to know how much data I'm using per billing cycle?
