|
|
I was trying to get my son's nintendo DS to connect to internet, it requires a wep number.
Anyway, whenever I set the settings to WEP and chose 64bit, as soon as I clicked the save settings, the values in the 4 fields converted to a 26 digit number (original number with lots of zeros). When I tried to connect back the router via my Mac neither the 10 digit nor theh 26 digit number would work to connect back to the router. Reset the router tried 128bit this time, nintendo nor the Mac would connect. The Mac connects fine with WPA setting but nintendo only supports WEP?
I had never tried WEP before. But I also had upgraded firmware to new 1.2 version. It appears something is jacked up with the WEP, (or maybe I've not made other correct settings on that page?)
Anyone else ever connected a Nintendo DS to MBR1000? Or any one else had trouble with a Mac connecting via WEP?
Thanks |

The MBR will convert the key from the 5 or 13 ASCII characters, normal behavior.
If you set the WEP key to 64 bit then enter 5 ASCII characters it will convert it too 10 HEX characters (0-9, A-F). However you can use the original 5 characters on your MAC or Nintendo. At least I should say that with my PC's Wireless client I can enter the 5 ASCII characters I entered before it converted it.
If you set to 128 then you need to enter 13 ASCII characters and it will convert it to 26 HEX.
I tested both 64 and 128 on my MBR and did not have an problem. Something you might want to try is start with 64, and put in something very simple like "qwert" for the password, without the quotes of course, set to Key 1. Then Save the settings and on your MAC just enter the same Password (qwert) for Key 1.
That actually remindeds me. On some Wireless clients the Key number goes from 0-3 and on the MBR it goes from 1-4. Meaning that 0 = 1. So if your client has a Key of 0 make sure that is the Key you are filling out with "qwert" |
