This is really an odd one. My AirCard 595 (VZW) had been working perfectly fine. When I was done with my laptop Saturday, I turned it off while leaving the card in the computer (Vista Ultimate). Normally I pull it out before powering off but for some reason this day I forgot.

When I went to use it again, the card was not recognized - no beeps, no nothing. In Windows event viewer it records:

Event ID 10. The PCMCIA controller encountered an error reading the device configuration data.

I removed and reinstalled the software - no go.

Now, I took the card, stuck it in my wife's laptop which has XP Professional and it works fine (although the lights don't come on).

Any ideas? Thanks!

Tony

Did you try powering the card off/on in your wifes laptop?

Thank you for the response! Powering it off and on... Do you mean the laptop while the card is still inserted? Or by device manager or something?

I did go to the local Verizon store today and swap the card out for a new one and I am having the same problem so it definitely isn't the card.

I would say something in Windows got out of whack except last night I even reformatted the laptop, did a fresh install of Vista and am still having the same problem.

This is absolutely baffling... Has me to the point where I think I might be better off with a USB device.
