OK I have my MBR1000 up and running with my Verizon U720. Up to this point I always used it (the modem) with the Y-cable as I figured it needed the current for transmitting back to the cell site(s). I only get about signal levels of -85 to -95 dBm (as seen on the VZAccess Manager). If I go to the Status Page on the Cradlepoint, it says the Signal Strength is 64%.
Do I need to figue out how to get more current for the Modem (things just seem slower since I hooked it up to the MBR1000) but it might be just network (Verizon's) loading/traffic.
Suggestions?

There isn't an exact formula for converting the dB into the MBR1000's percentage; however -90 sounds about right for 64%.
I would suggest doing several speed tests (on the same test server) both directly connected with the modem & then connected via the router. Average the numbers & compare results, I generally find speeds to be better in the CradlePoint routers vs. directly connected with carriers software. |
