I am planning on installing a UM150 Omni External Antenna from 3Gstore to my roof. Then going down to my um150 and then into a CradlePoint CTR-350. From there I plan on going into my Linksys router to supply my desktop and xbox 360 with ethernet cables.
Do you think this sounds like a good way to set things up.
Right now I get about -90 around 2 bars outside.
My computer is in my basement were i get no signal at all.
That is why I want to use the antenna.
Do you think I will see an improvment? Do you think I will get down to the -70's
Do you think i will need an amplifier?
Any info would be great |

The router idea is cool by me, but I think that if you used a directional antenna, your gain would be much better. If you know the general direction of any towers, I think a yagi or panel could be a lot more effective. _________________ - Henry |

Hey... look at this link. It is jim-in-VA's blog and I've found it to have some pretty useful info.

Look at all his posts about antennas. _________________ - Henry |

Thanks for getting back to me guys.
I was also thinking about the yagi or panel antennas but I live out in the middle of the woods and I was told that these types of antennas do not work well if you have alot of trees. What do you guys think? would a yagi or panel work out in the woods or do I need a very clear line of site to the tower? |
