OK here's the deal.

U727 works fine with my old laptop or my MBR 1000.

I bought a new laptop a while back and used it occasionally through the MBR 1000 with no problems. I finally decided to install the Sprint connection software and U727 on my new Vista laptop.

When I installed the 727 it showed successful in the process, device Manager sees it, the laptop also see the 1 GB storage.

Problem..... Sprint connection software does not see the modem!? All it says is the proverbial "insert device" and of course I do, but nothing happens. the green light is steady on the 727, but that's it.

Everything looks like it installs fine, yet the U727 is not recognized by the Connection software nor can I access the 727 via the software. it's like it doesn't exist. Any ideas???

I use Vista 64 Home Premioum and it works perfectly with my EX720 and SCM 3.10.014. Didn't have to do anything but install SCM. You didn't mention what SCM version you are using, but you might want to try that one.

I think Vista is a significant improvement over SP. There was a problem with available drivers for a while but that is mostly over now. SP1 did a lot to clean up software installation glitches. It also seemed to clean up a problem re installing while the antivirus program was active.

I installed the U727 in both my XP and Vista laptops with no problem whatsoever. Not saying you installed it improperly but installation problems do occur if you have the modem in the PC BEFORE you completely install the software.
