This information comes from our friends at MacOSXHints.com. This tip applies to getting a AirCard 580 to work on a PowerBook. The tip is for someone in New Zealand, but it should also work for someone in the US on Sprint's EVDO or 1xRTT network using this card.

Apparently, the Sierra PC5220 card and the Sierra Wireless AirCard 580 are the same card. Apple Mac OS X supports the PC 5220 card, but it doesn't support the Sierra AirCard 580. To make the Aircard 580 work, a modification is required to some internal system files.

Please be very careful when modifying system files, and make sure that you know what you are doing. If you need help to do this type of modifications, please contact us or look at our consultant directory.
