I just signed up for Alltel wireless internet and I am using the usb UM150 modem I get about 2 bars -93dbm upstairs in my house but I want the computer downstairs and I do not get a signal down there.
So I am wondering if I could use an antena outside or booster and run the cable down to my basement?

Do you think this will help?
What would be the best antena?

I also only get 2 out of the 4 bars outside do you think an antena and booster would get me closer to 4 bars?

Any help would be great.
Thanks

do more testing... go outside on all sides of the house, and get DB readings as well as speed tests.
check roof locations too (where you might put an antenna). report your findings here.

its easier to make recommendations when we know what signal is like outside, rather than just basing decisions on indoor readings.

I went outside and my db out there is -86
when the um150 modem is outside my max download speed is between 973 and 1.3 kbps and my upload speed is between 183 and 258kbps

This is with the modem at ground level.
Do you think I will see a big improvment with an antenna on the roof.
Also what kind of antenna should I get a omni or yagi. I live in the middle of the woods so there are alot of trees around.
Any more info you guys can give me would be great.
Thanks

Grab an omni antenna unless you can physically see the tower. If you know the direction of the tower you can get a grid antenna.

You're getting RevA speeds. The antenna will boost your signal to its fastest potential. So yes you'll get faster speeds. More importantly your speeds will be stable and won't fluctuate so badly.
