See the Kyocera Suport Site as well if you do not want to take our word for it;-)
PC5750 cards fit nicely in the provided PCMCIA card slot and have been working for several of our customers.
Give us a try at 3Gstore.com We will exceed your expectations! _________________ - Victor |

ok .... test one no problem .... ball one and two for the kr2
initial setup that my seven year old helped me with.
first shot web connection.
plugged in the Verizon pc5750 air card to the router, connected the rj45 cable between my laptop and the router. Plugged in the router. Powered on the router, 2 minutes later the laptop, went directly to Firefox and hit Yahoo.com on the first try.
Next up. Connect my work laptop via enet while personal laptop is connected to the web and attempt to connect to Verizon Business VPN. Im an employee.
Status in a few. _________________ Regards |

Everything good except the WIRELESS setup.
Tried to get my personal laptop on via the wifi card. NG. Gotta lookk at this.
The router has hung once so far. I was unable to get to the web on any of the three machines after a night of being continually connected. Suspect a timeout. Need to check this also _________________ Regards |

My reason for selecting the KR2 over the Cradlepoint MBR1000 is support for the 32bit PCMCIA cardbus adapter, specifically my PC5750 REV A Verizon card.
I received a new KR2 yesterday, inserted my Verizon PC5750 REV A card and the KR2 came up and ran right out of the box. Firmware version as delivered is: Firmware Version : ZE1.0.00, 2008/01/02
It's been running without incident since then. I have added security and a few other customizations. The only oddity that I have observed so far is that the connection speed to a 54Mbps "G" adapter computer varies from 1Mbps to 54Mbps at seemingly random times.
My current location gives me a very poor EVDO signal varying between
-103 and 105 as measured with the card in my computer. Despite the poor signal level speedtest reports 385 - 460 Kbps download and 58 - 60Kbps upload and a 250MS ping time.
Overall I am positively impressed with the KR2.

I am experiencing a problem with wireless connections.
I am unable to detect the KR2 wireless network.
I have my personal laptop running XP Pro with a Intel 2200BG support WEP
Also have my work laptop running XP Pro ... dont have that card type and wireless support type handy but neither detect the wireless network.
The router says the wireless connection is up and ready ... both Laptops are about 2 feet from the router and the switch on the router is turned on.
Any thoughts ? _________________ Regards |

My first suggestion is to make sure the WI-FI switch on the back of the router is switched to ON. |

The first thing to try when having issues with any WiFi setup is to disable all security and make it a plain open access point. In the case of KR2, it is also helpful to turn off WPS as it serves as little more than a frustration.
Once KR2 WiFi security is disabled, remove any KR2 profiles from your WiFi adapter management software in Windows. Then connect to KR2. The adapter should associate with the access point and allow you to connect to WAN services. After this basic connection is made, then begin to implement security on both the access point and adapter.
Additionally, WPA-PSK is a much more secure authentication standard for WiFi. If your adapters support it, I suggest using it over WEP. |

Yeah .... maybe should have been a little more specific.
Yes, ofcourse, I double checked the switch.
On the router under Wireless Wifi Security mode - tried none and WEP. The network card is an intel 2200BG -- no joy.
Checked the driver and found that the one loaded was 3 years older then the most current. I updated the driver .. no problem with the driver update. No yellow in device manager. Windows reports that the device is working properly however, still see big red X n the wireless connection network, repair dont work, re-setup dont work ....
Tried all of the obvious ... really I know about this stuff ... integration engineer by profession (at least currently) working for Verizon Business luckily do most of my work in the Solaris environment and only leave Windows loaded for the family or it would be Knoppix for me ... looking for the out of the ordinary ....
Also .. did no setup at all on the work laptop ... also unable to detect wireless connection ... from what the others told me, the laptop image should allow at least location of the network ... but nuttin thar eeeeder
only thing i didnt do was try to hit factory reset

My wife recently had this very issue. She described the same issues to me, including not being able to see any networks even though the adapter was enabled and Windows reported it working fine.
The solution to the problem was a switch on the laptop itself that allows the radio to be enabled or disabled. Even though the switch had the radio disabled, it still showed up as working fine in Windows. I figure you checked this but it's worth mentioning.
Outside of that, resetting the router to factory defaults and updating to the latest firmware (ZE1002) is always a good idea in troubleshooting. |

I opened an earlier thread regarding WiFi AP init problems with my dad's KR2.
The KR2 GUI indicates that all is well, but no client can connect, get DHCP, etc. Some clients can see the SSID being broadcast but fail trying to get DHCP; hard coding the IP settings does not help either.
Only way I have gotten his to work in that state it to connect via ethernet and reboot from there. Power cycling does not seem to be as reliable for me in resolving this issue.
Every time it enters this state it is coming back from a web UI initiated reboot, usually from changing a setting. Thankfully, we don't change much and the box never reboots or drops connection so it only happened on initial install and when I was playing around with some other settings a few weeks later. _________________ --Larry |
