Hey guys
First off i want to say that this forum is pretty awesome and has allot of helpful info. Much appriciated.
Now on to my question.
Can I get and EVDO signal or am I stuck with 1xRTT?
By no means am I complaining about the signals I have been getting ( i was on dialup for 6 months befor discovering wireless broadband) but i have a feeling I can get better without the help of an atenna. Basicly I just need a professional to tell me if expecting an EVDO signal in my situation is warented.
I was told by sprint that I should expect atleast Rev 0 and possibly from time to time Rev A. I live just outside of Cisco, Texas which is in Callahan county. It is a rural area but I live literaly 200 feet? From I-20 (one of the largest HWYs in texas) and am only about 35 minutes from Abilene which is a city of 100thousand+ people. ALso I am only about 1 1/2 hours from Fort Worth, Texas which has millions of people and is where one of sprints main servers is I beleive.
Anyway, I told all this to the sprint people and thats when they said then i should be able to get REV 0
I would think, because I am along a major HWY and because I am not out in the middle of NOWHERE that I could get something better then 1xRTT
Am I expecting to much from the service? SHould I go to the trouble of getting an atenna? I just need some advice on what to do
Thanks in advance
other info that may help -
there are at least 2 cell towers within a 8 mile radius of me
I rarely have bad cell reception almost always full bars ( except on really windy days)
Not sure if that makes a differece but yea |

Best way to check is to take it out around your house and neighborhood and see what kind of signal/speed you can get in different locations. If you see a dramatic increase then an antenna will likely help. You have no way of knowing unless you do this basic test first. _________________ evdo-tips.com |

Thanks
I walked around the house and it jumps up and down from step to step... anywhere from 0 % to 80%. Where I have the computer set up now I can get 20% sometimes 40% if im lucky... and my dBm is usualy between -99 and -90.
Yea So i think I am going to get the onmi exterml antenna... I guess its the best one and 85 bucks isnt to bad, especialy if i can get a constant 80%
Thanks |
