I wasn't sure exactly where to ask this but I'm considering a phone from Verizon. The specifications say EVDO only, does that mean it won't work where there is no EVDO service available?
Thanks. |

| Depends but it should work on the normal network to. Do you have a link of the phone that says this? |

The one I'm referring to is the Motorola MOTORAZR maxx Ve on the Verizion Wireless website. I would post a link but the board won't allow me to.
Under specification it lists it as "EV-DO Only." |

EVDO is data only, so in the event that EVDO wasn't available in the area in which you were, your voice calls should technically still go through. Opposed to GSM carriers where their UMTS/HSDPA network allows for voice and data to take place on the same protocol.
I haven't taken the time to look this phone up, but I've never really experienced a phone that didn't have some kind of support for the 1xRTT platform in the event that the better data technology isn't available. You might want to inquire with your local Verizon store for more information. |

This is a question that should have been directed at Verizon Wireless directly...
However, what this means is that the phone supports EVDO for data. If no EVDO signal is avlb. it will simply use 1xrtt.
for Voice it will work anywhere there is a Verizon signal. |

That is correct, I've previously owned a Razr Maxx VE, awesome phone... one of the best I've ever owned, but I've just recently upgraded to a Moto Q9m. |
