| I have a novatel u727 w/ sprint service. my download speeds are pretty good but im not too concerned with that. Its when i play games online is what im worried about. when i'm playing counterstrike my lag is pretty much directly dependent on my signal strength.when it <-85 it plays well.but when it goes aver its lag city. My signal seems to jump around a lot but it tends to average about -86.Would an antenna help me get better ping times.if so could yuo recommend one? |

Your signal sounds exactly like mine with no antenna. High 80s.
I purchases a Booster Antenna from 3g and now my signal is 70 to 74dbm.
My down speed improved about 400kbs. My pings went down slightly, ever so slightly, but when i have high 80s my connection would 'hang'. Now it never hangs.
I play Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress, Warcraft 3, Guild Wars, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. All run "decent" on my EVDO but not better then a home solution internet... |

Is it possible to attach that 60$ booster antenna to a TNC female amp? or is the "pigtail" which is card speciific hooked permenently to the antenna? Is the cable unpugable? _________________ - Henry |

I'm interested because I'm not sure the gain of only this booster would be enough... possibly if I added an amp, I would get an exeptional signal. I have a signal of about -95 without a cantenna mod, but with the cantenna I have about -86 to -89. _________________ - Henry |

Cool. I'm probably going to be looking at panel antennas. I'm not sure which one, but I think they might be better for my purposes.
Thanks for the help though. _________________ - Henry |

Hello all,
New here....Great forum! You guys seem like the right people to ask for a problem I have.
My girlfriend and I just bought a vacation house in Cochecton, NY. Zip is 12726. Our house is right by the Delaware River.
We do not have cell service at the house (0 bars) it cuts out about 4 miles up the road, do not have access to DSL or cable. Our only options for television was satellite and currently the only option for broadband is satellite internet.
We are COMPLETELY renovating the house so are on a tight budget for internet connection (things like appliances, new kitchen and bath are priority ) I have my own graphics design business and NEED access at the house for emailing some rather large files, viewing videos, etc.
So now to the point.... on our TIGHT budget we'd like to use something like Sprint's or Verizon's wireless broadband and use the card in one of those wireless routers so we can connect 2 or more computers to the connection.... ALL ON A BUDGET. Being that service is only available 4 miles away and we have NO service at the house would a booster or amp help us?
Am I dreaming here? What would the best course of action be?
Thanks! |

Remrem, You are dreaming! You have to have a signal to work with to improve it. I doubt if you will be able to pull a signal in that is good enough to use data, and probably not a cell phone.
Unless you can get a cell signal from your roof top. _________________ Ron |
