Hi, I have been trying to put together a good system of antenna, amp, and antenna adapter for my U727. Well, I've noticed that there are N connectors, TNC connectors and FME connectors. What is the difference between all of them? I know N is for yagi, so I'll stay away from them, but what about TNC and FME? Is there a difference between them? How would I connect an amp with TNC connectors to a antenna with FME? _________________ - Henry |

Because people like to make money selling adapters and cables
Actually there are several factors at play here.
1. Physical size and weight (ie you would not want a N connector on your modem, or the modem would be larger and heavier)
2. Shielding (N connector generally provides better shielding than a TNC)
3. Frequency limits and insertion loss
4. Cost

Great! Thanks for the useful links! I have emailed with another sprint antenna user, and I've gotten some info too. I guess the easiest way to go about things is to buy the antenna you want and then get custom cable and choose the right connector types for each end according to your model of amp or pigtail. It's not as expensive as you'd think too. _________________ - Henry |
