I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me out. I just purchased the 595u aircard at Bestbuy and left my laptop there for the Geek squad boys to install it for my new Sprint service. My laptop is a Compaq Presario V5000 series. Anyway, after 4 hours I checked to see if they were done and lo and behold they informed me I had a virus and they could not install my card until it was removed. Long story short I removed it myself and attempted to install the card with no luck. I have loaded and unloaded the software and drivers several times but still no luck. The connection manager does not seem to know the card is there although the computer finds the aircard and loads the drivers when it is plugged into the USB port and it shows up in device manager as being installed and working properly. I have called Sprint and stayed on the phone for over an hour with them - no luck. Took it to the Sprint store which was Sprints tech support persons idea - no luck. Anyone have any idea what is wrong? Is this a driver issue or perhaps a conflict with the built in wireless aircard? I am at a loss. The only way I can get online is by going to a T-mobile hotspot and using the wireless connection built into the laptop. Also - yes I am sure the virus is removed as I had to buy another brand of virus protection since McAfee did not stop this one. Any ideas? |

I tried setting up a "dial-up" connection (Verizon) dialing #777, but it asks for a username and password. What's it asking for/ I know that V uses my phone number for a username in some places, but I don't know of any password.
Thanks

Actually, although you can put in the username/password referred to above, you don't actually need to put in anything. The phone has an internal username and password that it sends to authenticate, and if you are registered in the database, you will connect.
I know this works because I don't have anything in my dialup script and it connects just fine. |

Thanks, I'll try it this evening. It seems to be the concensus that once you're set up, it's better to stay away from VZAccess as much as possible. Is this true? I know that you need to keep it available in case of trouble, but do you use it on a regular basis?

ttitansfan, I'm by no means an expert, but i do know a little about the way Windows handles USB devices. I f you haven't already went this route try:
1. Remove the software.
2. Go into control panel and remove the modem, also remove any ports, disk drives, or "unknown devices" that have any relationship to the device.
3. Be sure that the modem is not physically connected (plugged into the USB port). Restart the computer.
4. Install the software
5. Plug the modem in and let Windows do it's thing.
Hope this helps,
