I have a Dell with Vista OS. My old computer was XP. They are both desktops with a pci/pcmcia controller card for my Novatel (Sprint) Merlin S 720 aircard. All worked fine on my XP system, but all i get is a crash when i put the pci/pcmcia card in my Vista. The controller card is a Ricoh chipset RL5C475 II. I show no conflicts under device manager with the card plugged in to the pci slot but something is obviously wrong as my remote media center control fails to work and the machine keeps rebooting when i try to shutdown. As soon as i remove the pci card remote works and system shuts down fine. When i fire up the computer i do not have the aiecard plugged in. (System will automatically crash). After system has booted I click on the Sprint connection program. It initializes and tells me to insert the aircard. As soon as i do, it crashes. Some message flashes on the screen momentarily and i believe it says something about updated bios. i went to dell download center snd according to them i have the most current bios version which is 1.0.12
any help out there would be appreciated |
