Confused I'm probably the typical newby to EVDO. I got my UM150 modem from Verizon, THEN found this site and the 3GStore. I've had problems with the combination of equipment and service that I have, and just can't seem to get it right through V's "customer service". I think that they are trying, but for me, they're too trying. I'm still within my thirty days, so I think that I'll let them have the whole works back. I intend to get right back into EVDO through the 3GStore. Verizon is my only choice as far as coverage in my area, but I do have a question about the modem choice. I have, and intend to keep, a CTR-350 router; but am I better off replacing the UM150 with another UM150 or a 727. Not trying to start a war between supporters, because they both seem to be good modems, but I would like some help deciding between them.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi'

Thanks for the reply, Michael

My problems were with dropped connections, and inability to connect at times. My RSSI was good, and my neighbor was getting excellent speeds, as I had been getting for about a week. Your Tech support guys were kind enough to run a ticket for me, and help me determine that is wasn't my CTR-350. This was much more help than I got from Verizon, even thogh they sold me the modem and service. I still have a ticket running from Verizon, but haven't heard from them in three days. This difference in approaches to the needs of your customers is the primary reason that I want to buy my equipment directly from the 3GStore.

My only remaining question is whether to get another UM150, or to get the 727 (or 720). Either way, I will be getting it from the 3GStore.

Thanks,
Gary

How far is your neighbor away from you?

I have seen situations that I can move my laptop 6 feet and it makes the difference between getting EVDO and not, it CAN be that sensitive.

There are things that we can suggest to make sure you get good signal (not necessarily buying extra gear).

Since, you already had some bad luck with the UM150, I would say that you should return it and try the USB727.

Our tech guys can walk you through some things to do once we get it.

Confused OK, Verizon "fixed" all of the problems that I was having with connections, so I guess I'll postpone the decision to cancel my service until just prior to the end of my thirty days. Funny, but it didn't take but a few minutes after i told them that I was going to turn it all back in!

Thanks for the help, and even if I stay with Verizon, 3GStore has a dedicated customer and advocate.

Gary
