I was at my dad's today and made a change to his router that required a reboot. The reboot seemed to work, but I could not connect to the router any longer (wirelessly with my MacBook Pro's built in 802.11n). I could see the SSID, but it would fail to connect giving a general "problem connecting. Try again?" type dialogue. I went to the computers that connect via a wireless 802.11g bridge and they were also unable to connect.

I power cycled the unit by removing the power cord, waiting and the reconnecting with no change. I then connected to the trusty ethernet cable I have for such an occasion, requested a reboot by the web interface and everything came back to life.

33% success of restoring full functionality seems problematic, but I was hoping that this is something amiss with the way I have his set up.

FWIW, S720 PC Card running on the stock .00 firmware (no .02 prompted in the web interface update check). I had similar problems during the initial install, but attributed it to trying a variety of subnet, WiFi modes, encryption, SSIDs, etc.

Did you reboot by restoring factory defaults? Also, are you running any type of encryption like WPA?

No encryption and broadcasting SSID. We live on a farm, no neighbors for half a mile in any direction. Smile

None of the reboots were restore to factory defaults, but the only real changes made were to the password, the SSID and maybe the default subnet used.

The change I was making that asked for a reboot was to add mail send capability and enable it for logs.

Just seemed like the SSID was being sent, but DHCP requests were not being honored. I suppose I could have checked that by setting the IP info manually and seeing if it worked. I'll definitely try that the next time I decide to tempt fate and fix something that ain't broke. Wink
