|
|
| Have been reading these boards with interest over the last month since I got my sprint service and I have spent the better part of today trying to find the answer to my question. I have the 595U aircard and want a cheap router to plug my external antenna into. I can only seem to find the cradlepoint and another one, which is more than I wanted to spend on a router. I just have my laptop to connect and I'm not into anything fancy. Aren't there any linksys or any of the other low end routers that will work for my card? Or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and spend the money? |

The CradlePoint CTR350 is one of the best routers you can purchase for your 595U. It has tons of features that are not found in other routers and more importantly, if you run into any problems, you have the option of calling us (3Gstore), CradlePoint or posting messages up on the CradlePoint forums (that we host up here on EVDOforums).
When looking at getting a router, look at the support experiences others have had and look at how frequently firmware updates come out - that will tell you what you can expect after you get one.
BTW, LinkSys does have a mobile broadband router, but it retails for $249.99. So, the cheapo routers you see at electronic stores don't support EVDO cards, but rather a DSL or cable modem. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| That is what I was afraid of and I've tried looking to see what was out there and kept coming up with nothing but the cradlepoint, in terms of price. Just not sure I can convice the husband I need to spend another $100+ on internet service..... |

BTW, from your first post....
You don't plug an antenna into the router, an antenna goes into the aircard and the aircard plugs into the router.
You cannot go wrong with the CradlePoint.
BTW, another way to do is is use something called Internet Connection Sharing or ICS. There are other threads up here that explain it.
Basically, you share your evdo card over WiFi from one computer to the other, without buying a router. Many people have had issues getting it to work (vs. a CradlePoint, which you plug the aircard in and wait 12 seconds and you are done). It does work for some, but other have never had success. If you are a computer geek, you can probably get it working. Much easier to do on a Mac vs. a PC. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
