When you are on a Sprint or other wireless connection and want an associate to be able to pull documents out of your public folder, if the ip address below was active, what would they put in their browser address bar to access your non password protected public folder (\\SRM-TX2000Z\Public)?
C:\Users\SRM>ipconfig
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::6823:35f7:9e95:3431%11
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.21
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.254
Handy way to colloborate on projects without cluttering email. _________________ Vista64 & EX720 |

your default gateway and IPv4 address are both private addresses...you'll have to go to a "What is my IP address?" website to find your true IP address....as it stands, all your internal private addresses are being translated to a single public IP address via NAT or PAT. |

Thanks, Fox. I used ipconfig to get the addresses 2 messages back at a local coffee shop while on open WiFi. The following iaddresses resulted from an ipconfig command when using the Novatel EX720 on NDIS mode. It is the same IP address I see when going to whatsmyip.org or whatismyipaddress.com.
Ethernet adapter Novatel NDIS:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 70.6.216.58
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 70.6.216.1
So the question remains: would a biz associate simply use http://70.6.216.58/SRM-TX2000Z/Public to access documents in my public folder, so long as I permitted public access and placed them there?
Any Public Folder sharers, please chime in. _________________ Vista64 & EX720 |

I think the easiest thing to do would be to install an FTP server on your PC so that he can connect in and download/upload files that he needs.
This one is pretty easy to setup on Windows, and it's FREE! (as in beer)

I would ask Sprint, themselves; you better have a really good excuse though; they may suspect that you just want to know so you can snoop around other people's public folders.
Anyway, I really have no idea, and really didn't know that Sprint could even do this. |

I think FTP would be the way to go also.
your firewall and/or router may block him though, youll need to configure both. |
