Well, I've done pretty much I could with my Evdo card. I've called sprint, apperently there's no towers down around here. I uninstalled everything off the computer and reinstalled it. I don't know what's going on. Right now I'm running at
5 bars
1xevdo Rev A -80dbm
1xRTT 89dbm
Speed test on sprint
Latency to server 307ms
download 375kbs
upload 7kbs
It's really starting to look worse then aol, Anyone have any suggestions what's going on? Thanks to everyone. |

Try going to the Sprint Connection Manager Settings (or SmartView) and locking in to "EVDO Only". Just a guess. But, you have similar signal for 1xRTT and EVDO and you may be "ping ponging back and forth between towers". Setting to "EVDO Only" will cause your card to not listen for 1Xrtt and possibly get you much better speeds since you card will stop switching back and forth.
The settings is in different places depending on what connection manager you are running. Look under preferences for "EVDO only" or "CDMA EVDO". _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Ps. Michael if I get the router for my usb card do I have to have the router hard wired into a pc? or can I just plug everything in and hook it up to a power sorce and run wireless? |

Yes, just plug your USB card into the router, give the router power and 12 seconds later, you have a wireless hotspot that you can connect to. The card needs to be activated first before it can work in any router - but if you are using it now, it is activated already. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I don't have the router yet. I'm going to get one the craddlepoint off of you guys and an Antenna just to bring my signal up a little. I just did a speed test and my dl speed was 989 and upload was 512 so I've still got a ways to go. Granted I'm working off of a 81 dbn right now. The Antenna will brng me down into the 70's hopefully 60's if I get really lucky.
thanks for all you're help. |
