OK, I'm running the UM 150 on Alltel network. I have a tower probably 3-4 miles from me, I can get -80 rssi EVDO within 1.3 miles of the house.

I keep switching from DO to 1X, staying mainly on 1X

My RSSI in the house is in the -96 to -120 range, and slightly better outside. My landscape is fairly flat, but I have a dense, tall forest between me and the tower.

When I'm on 1X, I usually have 2-3 bars, when on DO, usually only 1 maybe 2.

Am I conflicting with 2 different towers?

Do directional antennas work through trees?

I need some direction on how to get (1) better signal and (2) more consistant connections, not switching all the time.

Some days, I get DO no problem and rock and roll all night, some days it just flops around between 1X, rA and DO. rA usually gets me nowhere fast, lockup time.

Getting a better signal is going to help get a better connection. I am also surrounded by trees. Using a panel antenna gives me great results.

Check for details:
