I live in a mountainous area (read as , high noise, but NOT low signal, the signal is there, there's just lots of echos from the hills), my LG 4400 is getting old, but provides the best cellphone reception I've ever had. (tri mode). It also does national access very well.

The Sierra Wireless EVDO card seems to have massive issues with my area. I've tried several antenna's, Currently using YAGI, pointed at one of two cell towers, with a dogshield like cone wrapped in foil to prevent signals from other directions from getting in. (As I said, I live in a hilly area, there's lots of noise from reflected signals).

Amplifiers (multiple types), provide no better quality of service.

I'm looking for a replacement for the LG 4400. What phone can I get that will be able to handle this 'high noise' environment as good as my LG 4400 handles it?

www.phonescoop.com is a great resource for the answers you seek. Great reviews and searching their database would help ya. Good luck.
