Because nobody else seems to be able to. Here's the situation. Bought another domain through Google ok? Now when you do this the domain is "parked there until you go to the registrar and point the dns to where your sight resides. In my case my own server.
Problem is it propagated fine to it's new home yet I am the ONLY one who cannot access the new domain!> every time I try to go to the domain it takes me right to the Google partner page it was "parked" at when I bought it. Here's the domain... http://www.tularecountytownhallforums.com Any of you "Sprinters" access it ok?
I have spoken on the phone to Google, Go Daddy (the registrar), and Sprint. I spent a LOT of time on the phone this morning
** Google says the domain propagated fine and no longer resides with them.
** Go Daddy says the same. propagated fine and points to our server
** Sprint can reach the domain as well and there is NO caching issue with them. they state there is NOTHING to keep me from going anywhere on the net.
** I have dumped everything in both browsers to no avail.
** I even tried turned off McAfee and any Firewalls. No go
** I changed the DNS info in my wireless connection on laptop and pointed it right to our site and tried the obtain DNS automatically mode. Either way no go.
** I also did the same thing above with my router. NO go
** I also took my router out of the loop and went directly with aircard. No go.
I've tried it all and have no more options. It's not a browser issue like I need to dump the browser and reinstall it. It does the same thing on my new laptop. Both machines in both IE and Firefox
Get this, I went to command prompt and pinged the domain name and it comes back with an IP (64.233.179.121) owned by Goggle (found out after an ip whois). Yet when Google and Go Daddy pinged it (our domain name) for me they got our server IP, not some Google sh*t. I can also ping our IP Mark gave me for the forum and get a good response and times around 120 ms however if I type the server IP in the address bar it of course takes me to my RV site.
With everything I've tried and everyone but me being able to reach the site I can't help but to feel that Sprint might have some cache that's not dumping. They say no. I am totally lost and apparently my IT and Network engineer bro is to. This is the only site I have an issue with!!
Any ideas or suggestions? Anyone ever experience a "cache issue" or something similar to this with Sprint before?
Help lol! |

It works here.
Usually, when you make a DNS change, it can take 24 - 48 hours before all the domain name servers are aware of the change. This is because they do local caching and they do not check back until the cache expires.
There is a way (if you control the domain name) to make the TTL (Time To Live) or the cache a LOT less then 24 hours, so that the changes will propagate quicker across the internet. Problem is, places like AOL ignore this setting and may cache for a long time.
Try using OpenDNS and you will see it works fine:

Michael,
I've made the change in my laptop how about the MBR 1000 too?
In addition Michael it's been nearly 48 hours. so far I'm the only one that can't get to the site. I've had to sneak in through my bros back door. I believe the site has propagated fine and everyone that has tried it from Canada to Calif and to you can get there. I can't. weird happenings.
I changed the dns in both the laptop and MBR 1000 and same thing as far as this problem goes |

According to GoDaddy, the change was made yesterday (4/18/2008) and the DNS servers are:
| Quote: | Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.DNSEXIT.COM
NS2.DNSEXIT.COM
NS3.DNSEXIT.COM
NS4.DNSEXIT.COM
|
I do see a phpBB site when I visit the URL, so it is working, it may not be until later today or tomorrow until you see it.
Try rebooting your computer/router and see if that allows you to get in quicker. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael,
The date you saw was due to us verifying the change yesterday. No actual change The site actually originated on the 17th and the servers at Go Daddy you see were actually pointed early the morning of the 17th.
No go on rebooting either. I did the dns change in both the router and lappy.
Like I said everyone but me can access it. I keep getting the Google parking page. it's been nearly 48 hours ow so propagation has been completed I believe. This is just too weird. |

| Michael, incidentally I fired up my new laptop as well and am getting the same issue so it leads me to believe it's a connection issue of some sort! It's not isolated to this laptop I'm on, but it is isolated to me lol! |

Michael,
This is getting interesting here. My bro has had me run several tracert's and it appears at this point that SPRINT is the one who keeps directing me back to the old parking page! He's finishing the report to determine exactly where and who makes the redirect to the Google parking page instead of my domain. IF it's Sprint I am going to be real P**ed off to say the least after spending 2 phone calls and nearly an hour on the phone with them and them telling me there is NOTHING they have to restrict where I go on the ne,t they are gonna catch H E double L lol
I'll report back with the final results when done in case this happens again to someone. Propagation of the new domain is NOT the issue at hand.
Good thing my bro is a IT and Network Engineer otherwise I'd be dead in the water. |

Any chance you got ByteMobile installed? That is a caching server that Sprint uses on their end and that *may* be doing it. If you have ByteMobile (setting in connection manager), turn it off, reboot computer and see if that matters. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

There are two possible reasons your are not reaching the site but others are.
1. Your dnslookup table that your provider points to is not updated yet or has a defective temporary or authorative cache (this will usually self correct within 24 hours).
2. Your own computer (network) is caching dnslookup tables and using them and so needs to be manually refreshed to look for the change in pointer on the remote table. You'll need to check for software you are running to see if you have your own dnslookup cache (often called a web or speed optimizer - since it speeds things up when surfing by eliminating the need to lookup the IP/dns conversion each time you click to go to a site).
Anyway, if you just want to get to your site and see it is there, instead of using the dnsname, use the IP ( 72.14.207.121 ) in your url address bar and it will take you right there.

Issue solved thanks to my bro. The root here of the problem was Google, NOT Sprint.
Boater kinda hit the nail on the head here. Google had a defective router/cache issue hat needed their attention. Something that would not have happened had they not been made "aware". Michael and Boater thank you both for your inputs!!
Man I'm sure glad my bro is a Network Engineer and IT guru and one that's very persistent at that. He did some very good trace routing and investigative work to find the root cause if which nobody could dispute lol. I'm back in business. Thanks again for all the input as it helped as well!
On edit... me not paying attention to my fat fingers and the built in spell checker must provide more entertainment that the forum itself lmao! |
